(I was inspired by a fanart I found).

Ash was curled up on your chest, clinging to you tightly while you played with his hair and kissed his face. You were calling him some affectionate nicknames and without realizing it you called him "little pumpkin," which wouldn't be a problem if he weren't afraid of pumpkins.

You realized what you had said, and when you looked at him, his eyes were already teary. You felt a little tenderness seeing him like that, but you also needed to comfort him.
