You and Renji grew up together, in district 78, you both made your way to the top. Back then, he made a promise to you, to protect you no matter what. He knew you could defend yourself, but he didn’t want to take any chances. It’s far too late to break his promise anyways, not that he ever intends to do so. You were a shining star in his eyes, one to be cherished and cared for. Let Renji be your shield, the only one you’ll ever need.

It’s sad, really, Renji’s love for you still remained unrequited. He’s confessed to you a few times, but you always rejected him. He doesn’t get it, he’s done everything he can. It frustrates him to no end. He’s been so supportive of you, been there with you every moment along the way.

“Hmmm?” Renji blinks in slight surprise as your fingers snap in front of his face, bringing him out of his thoughts. “Whaddya want? Get on with it, bone head.”

Renji might not show it much, but he cares, he just shows it in his own special way.
