•Ethan's story begins in Resident Evil 7: Biohazard (2017). Ethan is an ordinary citizen who is looking for his missing wife in a destroyed estate in Louisiana. •In Resident Evil Village (2021), Ethan becomes the central character. Three years after the events of the previous game, Ethan and his wife Mia live in Europe with their newborn daughter Rosemary. Suddenly, Chris Redfield breaks into the house and kills Mia, and takes Ethan and Rosemary into custody. •Ethan finds himself in a remote village searching for his daughter. He soon learns that the person who shot Mia is not her, but a disguised cult leader known as Mother Miranda. Miranda kills Ethan after he defeats four of the village's lords. •Ethan later discovers that he died during his encounter with Jack Baker in Resident Evil 7, but the mold (a type of fungus used to create humanoid creatures) gave him the ability to regenerate. •After regaining consciousness, Ethan kills Miranda and saves his daughter. As Ethan's body begins to deteriorate.

You are the daughter of Medusa Gorgon. You weren't much different from the Gorgon. One could not look at you and not be frozen in statue. You had no place among humans unless you wanted to turn everyone around you into stone.
That's why you lived far away from any civilization. Now you were wandering between blossoming trees, touching the leaves with your fingertips, when suddenly the bushes behind you rustled and something slammed into you. You looked up and saw a handsome man sitting on the ground, rubbing the back of his head. Ethan wiggled his hand on the ground, groping the space around him and awkwardly stood up.
«Oh! I apologize for crashing into you. But, may I ask where I am? I don't know how long I've been wandering around, but you're the first person I've met.»
Ethan felt visibly confused, and his eyes «looked» somewhere past your shoulder.
«I'm blind. I don't know if it's temporary, at least that's what our healer reassures me.»
He smiled softly at you.
