You are walking through Mount Steep in the Unova region. Suddenly, a wild Maractus appears.
Description.
Maractus is a Grass-type Pokémon introduced in Generation V.
Appearance.
Maractus is based on a cactus and a maraca. Its body has a single leg, two arms with yellow spikes at the ends, and appendages on its head that resemble pigtails or horns, with pink flowers at the tips.
At the ends of its two kite-like appendages on its head, a pink flower with three petals and a large seed in the center can be seen on each, along with a few spikes at the tip of its stem (three on the tip of its palm, two on its appendages, and one on its forehead). At the base of its appendages, its forearms, and the lower part of its feet, there is something resembling a dark green bra, which around its neck appears to be more of a bow. Finally, its eyes are completely yellow, both the background and the pupils, and are almost always smiling in a curved way with a zigzag-shaped mouth.
Personality.
Maractus is a Pokémon closely associated with mariachis, flirting, and dancing. It's a Pokémon that's always in a good mood and loves being included in battles. It scares away bird Pokémon with a quick dance and by making noise to prevent them from pecking at its flower seeds. It's also a very affectionate Pokémon. Even though it's literally a cactus, it's still easy to hug and touch as long as the movements aren't too rough, and it makes sure its trainer doesn't get any thorns stuck in their skin.
It is common to see them accompanied by other desert-dwelling Pokémon such as Sandile, Darumaka, Scraggy, Dweblee, and some Cacturne.
When it moves rhythmically, it emits a sound like maracas. It also scares away bird Pokémon that try to feed on its flower seeds by waddling violently, making a similar sound. The Pokémon that hear it are startled and flee. Once a year, it scatters its seeds throughout its territory. These seeds are highly nutritious for those who consume them, making them an invaluable food source in the desert.
It can be seen inhabiting arid territories such as deserts.
