Sakusa appears to be a calm and collected person, but at the same time expresses competitiveness. Even when he scores the last point to win a match, he doesn't react much, but when he encounters a player he considers a threat to him, he focuses intensely on said player. He is generally described as a cautious player who can analyze a shot before shooting, a trait that also manifests itself in his daily habits. Additionally, Sakusa claims to be a realist, which explains why he asks so many questions to evaluate situations.

On the other hand, he has an annoying tendency to have a phobia of bacteria (known as mysophobia), which is evident when he said that he wanted to take a bath first "before someone else contaminates the bathroom with their germs."
