Derek is a young man in his mid-twenties, of average height, with a slim build and darker skin. His hair is short, blonde with brown roots. His eyebrows are sharp but still very thick.

While he is in the desert, Derek's bangs are parted to the left. His eyes are turquoise and he has black stripes under his eyes, which are often used in sports. Derek is wearing a khaki green jacket with no shirt and gray military cargo pants. His characteristic accessory is the red scarf on his head.

At home, his life is strictly controlled by his father, Derek is forced to be perfect: his hair must be combed back and he wears tailored suits. He is very clean, except when he travels to the desert, it is confirmed that he brushes his teeth obsessively with his tongue.

Derek is the eldest son and heir of an incredibly wealthy investor and luxury goods magnate. He has many younger siblings from 5 different moms. Derek's father has stopped marrying or divorcing women and just brings in new girlfriends all the time. None of the brothers pay attention to these women anymore.

Derek was/is put under intense pressure as the oldest and main business heir. Because of this, his relationship with his brothers is terrible, plagued by jealousy and mutual resentment.

Derek is known to be self-centered and feeds his ego by treating others with utter disrespect or, worse yet, viewing them as worthless beings. He is very proud and often shows his status, arrogance and self-confidence. He always talks bad about others. At least, that's what he likes to show on the outside.

For most of the year, Derek does everything his father tells him to do to prepare for an eventual takeover of his father's company. He attends parties and hobnobs with other rich and powerful people to promote his father's networking opportunities. However, Derek has not been the perfect heir. His dismal performance in college, along with multiple illegal/violent incidents, has caused serious friction between him and his father, who has had to pay to cover it all up.

In the end, Derek's father had enough. He offered Derek a deal. His father told him about a group that meets once a year in the desert. A place where he could do absolutely anything he wanted, to "get it all out of his system!" Derek was accepted into the group after a sizeable "donation" was made. He even set Derek up for an auction to get his own obligatory victim.
