Akaza (猗あ窩か座ざ, Akaza?) or known as Hakuji (白磁, Hakuji?)[2] during his human days, is a character in the Kimetsu no Yaiba franchise. He was a Demon who belonged to the group of the Twelve Demonic Moons holding the position of the Upper Moon Three (上じょう弦げんの参さん, Jōgen no San?)[3].

Devil:

As a Demon, Akaza retained his human appearance[4] and took the form of a muscular youth with fairly fair skin similar to a bright white tinged with green. Much of his body was decorated with thick blue lines [5], which resembled the criminal tattoos he had when he was human [6].

Some of the lines on his face were curved, crossing both his eyebrows and eyes, and extending from below his ears to his temples; another line extended from the center of the hairline to the bridge of the nose. The lines continued to extend around his body: two lines ran around his neck and another three lines branched down until they reached his torso; a center line ran directly down his chest to the middle of his stomach; While the other lines that connected to his neck branched off on each side of his chest to join the other two horizontal lines, this same three-line pattern was also repeated around his waist [7].

The lines that covered the upper part of his torso extended and then curved straight down each side of his arms, joining with a horizontal line that surrounded the bicep. Below this line was another horizontal line and to the sides of it, two straight lines extended to the end of Akaza's wrist[8]. Both on his hands and on his feet, you could see that all of his fingers were blue and his nails were painted orange [9].

His eyebrows were thin[10] and black and pink[11]. Her eyelashes as well as her hair, which was short and without bangs which left her forehead exposed [12], were a light pink color [13]. Her eyes had a fragmented sclera of blue coloration and her irises were yellow. On the irises there is a numbering indicative of her position as the number three crescent moon within the Twelve Demonic Moons (参上弦 (San jōgen,, 参上弦?)) [14].

Her attire was quite simple; She wore a short, sleeveless, dark purple-pink haori that featured a square pattern on the back. She used to wear her haori open, exposing her chest. Underneath this, she sported a pair of baggy white pants that rolled up just below her knee with a blue rope belt to secure them around her waist. Although Akaza prefers to go barefoot, he wears a chain of large round pink pearls around each of his ankles [15].

Human:

When he was human, his hair was completely black and short, similar to when he was a demon. His eyes were blue and his eyelashes were almost the same shade of color in his demon form.[16] He wore a worn kimono due to his condition of extreme poverty. As a result of the crimes he committed, he had three circular lines marked on his arms that identified him as a criminal. Later, he wore a white martial arts uniform.[17]

Akaza was characterized as an impulsive, stubborn, and strong Demon with the idea that he should fight strong opponents and enjoy combat, which is reaffirmed by the pleasure he takes in facing Demon Slayers, especially those who hold the position of a Pillar.[18] He despised anyone he considered weak,[19] but genuinely respected those who were strong in his eyes, regardless of whether they were Human or Demon. Once he met someone he considered strong, he would demand to know their name and would not stop until he found out;[20] he would remember all the names he had committed to memory as a tribute to their strength.

Akaza had a deep-rooted psychological need to become stronger, and did not get along well with his fellow Upper Moons due to viewing them as rivals. He was especially antagonistic towards the two Upper Moons who held a hierarchical position over him, Doma and Kokushibo, lashing out at Doma and vowing to kill Kokushibo.[21] Even after being beaten and decapitated during his fight against Tanjiro Kamado and Giyu Tomioka, he stubbornly held on and continued to fight despite not knowing why he wanted more power.[22]

As a human, Hakuji possessed the same stubborn personality with a big heart and resilience. He valued others more than his own well-being, and hates himself for having a life "filled with empty words and promises."[23] Even after becoming a demon and losing his memories of his human life, parts of Hakuji's memories influence Akaza's decisions; he refuses to devour women, despite knowing it would make him stronger if he did.[24] His hatred of weak and cowardly people stems from the corruption of his human memories, where a rival dojo poisoned his dojo's well because they could never defeat him.[25]

Demon Train Arc:

After fighting the first Lower Moon, Enmu, Tanjiro rests and tries to recover some of his wounds. Kyojuro is at his side and gives him instructions to improve his healing process. At that moment, they both witness the appearance of a flash that crashes to the ground[1].

Once the flash has dissipated, Akaza sees Kyojuro and Tanjiro; they look into his eyes and quickly discover that he is the Upper Moon Three belonging to the group of the Twelve Demonic Moons. Immediately, Akaza attacks the young hunter, who was still recovering from his previous fight. His actions force Kyojuro to use Flame Breathing and apply the Second Stance: Sky in Flames Rising, in order to prevent him from attacking Tanjiro. [2]

The attack produced by Kyojuro, manages to cut off a large part of Akaza's hand up to his forearm, who is forced to retreat to avoid another attack. Keeping his distance from his opponent, Akaza begins to regenerate his wound and licks some of the blood left on his hand[3].

Kyojuro does not understand the reason for the sudden appearance of an Upper Moon. Feeling overwhelmed, he ends up acknowledging the feeling of coming face to face with such an individual and, keeping his composure, asks him what the reason is for attacking an injured human. Akaza answers that Tanjiro is merely an interference between the two and that he was the target from the beginning.[4]

Kyojuro is not intimidated and comments that despite being the first time he sees him, he already hates him. Akaza replies that seeing Tanjiro in that weakened state only makes him sick, since he cannot tolerate a human being so weak before him. The Pillar listens attentively to the Demon's words and replies that both have a different concept and scale of values ​​and morality[5].

In the middle of the conversation, Akaza decides to make Kyojuro a proposal. He proposes to become a Devil, as he became very interested in him due to his power being very close to his own. Kyojuro does not hesitate and immediately rejects the proposal. Still, Akaza tries to make Kyojuro succumb to his temptations by stating that if he becomes a Devil, his powers could continue to increase, since the main disadvantage of humans is that they age and die, and only by being a Devil, he will be able to live hundreds of years longer and become even stronger. [6]

Kyojuro rejects the Demon's temptations, wisely answering that one of the most beautiful things about human beings is precisely the fact that they are fleeting creatures that die when they grow old and what humans call strength is precisely something that is not related to their bodies[7].

Kyojuro then watches Tanjiro as he attempts to get up to help the Pillar, and tells Akaza not to disrespect him, as Tanjiro is not a weak boy, thus reaffirming his stance that both he and Akaza are very opposite in terms of values ​​and morality, thus rejecting his offer to become a Demon. Tanjiro, still on the ground and unable to move, feels that of all the Demons he has met, Akaza is one of the few Demons who have a scent quite similar to Muzan Kibutsuji. [8]

Given Kyojuro's refusal, Akaza ends up activating his technique and displays a compass on the ground and on each needle of it, the numbers from 1 to 10 are represented. He then attacks the pillar, since he was ready to kill it. if he did not accept the proposal. Kyojuro advances with speed while he applies the First Stance: Sea of ​​Fire and both end up producing a strong clash of powers. Tanjiro watches the fight and mentions not being able to perceive the Demon's speed[9].

Akaza manages to dodge the attack and states that, of all the Pillars he has killed, it was the first time he faced one of the flame and he could not understand Kyojuro because according to him, his humanity placed him in decline despite his talent. with the sword. Kyojuro tries to counterattack by getting as close as possible to the Demon to evade his brutal blows [10]. However, Akaza, thanks to his regeneration, can withstand Kyojuro's attacks without problems, leaving him seriously injured [11].

Kyojuro does not give up and tries to put all his effort into one last attack with his ninth flame style; Akaza also uses one of his best attacks to respond to Kyojuro by causing a devastating explosion that devastates everything. When the cloud of dust dissipates, Akaza has pierced Kyojuro's chest, leaving him mortally wounded [12].

Faced with this picture, Akaza insists that he become a Demon to save his life and continue this fight forever, but the Pillar remains firm in his principles and instead of giving in to the temptations of the Demon and after remembering a last conversation with his mother shortly before her death, Kyojuro uses his remaining strength to push his Nichirin against Akaza's neck in order to sever his head.[13]

Akaza tries to avoid him by impaling his head with his other arm, however, Kyojuro barely avoids his attack, parrying his fist with his other hand, leaving the two opponents to grapple with each other.[14] Everything that happened, he was seen closely by Tanjiro and Inosuke who tried to help his superior to hold Akaza long enough for the sun's rays to incinerate him since it was dawn [15].

Desperate, Akaza tries to fight and in a last resort, he ends up ripping off his arms to escape. Angry and helpless, Tanjiro throws the Nichirin at his chest, shouting at Akaza that he was a coward and that the winner of the fight was Kyojuro since he remained firm in his convictions until the end. The demon manages to escape and, in turn, managed to kill a Pilar[16].

Later, he meets with Muzan Kibutsuji to inform him about what happened during his mission. They start a conversation and Muzan asks his subordinate if she found what they talked about. Akaza replies that he was not able to find reliable information and was also not able to confirm the existence of the Blue Spider Lily. He adds that he will do his best to meet his expectations and confirms that he has taken care of a Pilar. However, Muzan attacks the young demon claiming that it is quite obvious that he should win against the Pillar and mentions that he wishes all Demon Hunters to be killed [17].

Muzan looks at his subordinate and asks him not to feel proud of having killed a Pillar, when he left three hunters alive. Akaza begins to bleed from the wounds inflicted by his boss. Muzan tells him that he feels disappointed with his exploits and expresses annoyance knowing that he was injured by a hunter who is far from being a Pillar. After the conversation, he asks his subordinate to leave.[18]

Akaza leaves the room and looks at Tanjiro's sword. He immediately lashes out at it and remembers the young hunter's words. In his moment of rage, he destroys the sword and assures that in their next encounter, he promises to kill him.[19]

Entertainment District Arc:

Akaza stands in front of the Infinite Dimensional Fortress and tries to understand the reasons for being summoned there. He then realizes that a member of the Twelve Demon Moons was killed by a Demon Hunter.[20]

Akaza continues on his way and is disgusted to see Nakime playing his instrument. Upon entering the building, he is greeted by Gyokko who asks him how he has been after ninety years, and claims, lying, that he was worried about him. He ignores his companion and questions Nakime to find out if Muzan is already there, and then asks about the fact that Upper Moon One is not present yet. At that moment, Upper Moon Two, Doma, puts his arm around Akaza, causing him to be disgusted.[21]

Doma calmly talks to his companions but Akaza decides to punch his face due to his arm still being wrapped around him. Doma quickly recovers from the blow and asks his companion if he has become stronger since they last met. Nakime interrupts their conversation, revealing that Upper Moon One was the first to arrive, surprising Akaza with his revelation.[22]

The Upper Moon One, Kokushibo welcomes Muzan and immediately, Akaza searches for his boss. Once everyone is gathered, Muzan reveals that Daki and Gyutaro were killed, and as a result of their deaths, the number of the Twelve Demonic Moons has decreased. He then shows contempt and disappointment at how incapable and weak his subordinates are. Akaza merely listens to his words while bowing to the ground.[23]

At the meeting, Muzan decides to discuss the current situation of the Twelve Demon Moons and orders everyone to begin serving with even greater devotion to his cause, even if it means committing suicide; they must act in this way, as he feels that he has been raising them wrong this whole time. After the meeting, Muzan gives Gyokko a mission and Doma attempts to join him.[24]

As Muzan leaves the place, Akaza becomes angry and cuts off half of his Upper Moon Two head, for trying to go on a mission he was not assigned to.[25]

At the same time as cutting off his partner's head, the Upper Moon One punishes him by cutting off his hand for going against the hierarchy they follow and for trying to break the relationship they have. Doma tries to calm his partner down, claiming that he is not upset with what happened. Akaza feels overwhelmed and just listens to what his superior says. Kokushibo adds that, if he wishes to be a higher position, he recommends that he fight Doma to the death; the latter interrupts stating that there is no way for Akaza to win since he is superior to him in many ways. Kokushibo ignores everything Doma says and asks Akaza if he managed to understand what he meant. Akaza confirms that he understood and then assures that he will kill him one day. Before leaving the room, Kokushibo wishes his companion good luck. Akaza then leaves the room, leaving Doma to talk to himself.[27]

Infinite Dimensional Fortress Arc:

The Demon Slayer Corps begins their attack on the Infinite Dimensional Fortress. Meanwhile, Tanjiro and Giyu search the halls of the fortress for Muzan, but are stopped when a tremor shakes the place. Tanjiro detects a familiar scent, and as he looks up at the ceiling, Akaza appears before him and mentions that he is surprised to see a weakling like Tanjiro still alive. Immediately, Tanjiro prepares to fight.[28]

Akaza runs towards the young hunter in an attempt to attack but his attack is dodged very easily. Tanjiro uses the Dance of the Fire God and manages to cut off the demon's left arm completely. Immediately, Akaza tries to hit the hunter's head with his right arm but again his attack is dodged and instead, the hunter cuts off part of his face[29].

Akaza observes his opponent and without much effort, regenerates his wounds. At that moment, he remembers Kyojuro Rengoku's words about the fact that Tanjiro was not weak and decides to admit that the Pillar was right. He then activates his Technique Deployment and comments that the real battle has begun [30].

Giyu watches the battle and joins in to help his partner. When he uses Water Breathing, Akaza is surprised and mentions that it has been well over fifty years since he faced a strong Water Pillar. Akaza does not stop and uses the Chaos Style, managing to create powerful waves and send them in the direction of his opponent. The Pillar uses his technique and applies the Eleventh Stance: Calm to dodge the attack. Akaza is surprised since it is the first time he has seen such a posture.

While concentrating on Giyu, he is ambushed by Tanjiro but realizes his intentions quickly and with great speed, he appears behind the young hunter and attempts to strike at his neck. His attack is stopped after Giyu cuts off his arm. Akaza seems not to care about this fact and quickly manages his arm [31].

Giyu makes another attack and at the same time, Tanjiro tries to cut off the demon's foot. However, Akaza uses his Leg Style and while placing one of his arms on the ground, he raises one leg to hit his opponent and manages to prevent the hunter from causing wounds with his sword [32].

With the simple kick, Akaza manages to hurt Tanjiro, so Giyu decides to intervene. Akaza praises the Pillar's abilities and asks for his name, as he wishes to remember him when the battle is over. Giyu refuses to give him his name and Akaza adds that he will ask the same thing throughout the battle. He then uses the Flash of Fluid Light, creating explosive flashes around him and thanks to this, he manages to crash the Pillar against the wall, as a result, it flies through several walls to the other side of the fortress[33]. .

Tanjiro calls out his superior's name in concern, and Akaza is overjoyed to learn that his name is Giyu. The two prepare their techniques, and end up causing a clash of powers. With a gap separating the two combatants, Akaza praises the hunter for having improved his skills since Kyojuro's death. He then adds that that night, the Pillar of Fire did an excellent job and is glad of his death, as he believes that he could not have become stronger than he already was. Tanjiro is angered by his words as he considers that he is insulting Kyojuro's memory, however, Akaza claims that he is just flattering him and states that he only feels repulsion for the weak. [34]

Tanjiro responds by saying that he doesn't understand his logic, as even Akaza, at the time he was born, was once a weak child and needed someone to help him in order to become strong. He goes on to add that the strong should help and protect the weak so that they can become strong as well, and assures Akaza that he wouldn't let him do whatever he wanted. After the talk, Akaza seems to be overwhelmed by Tanjiro's words.[35]

Tanjiro's words run through Akaza's mind. At that moment, he has the illusion that a man is holding his arm and saying words similar to those said by the young hunter. Akaza gets upset and hits the man's hand, however, he realizes that it was all a product of his imagination[36].

After punching and observing nothingness itself, Akaza addresses the hunter and mentions how unpleasant he is. He charges at his opponent and uses his Crushing Style to apply the Willow of a Thousand Flashes, generating flashes on the ground and causing great destruction around him; Thanks to the technique, Tanjiro feels that the demon has become even faster than before. Akaza does not stop his attacks and continues kicking Tanjiro; The latter tries to avoid them but still, he obtains minor injuries [37].

Cornered by Akaza's abilities, Tanjiro analyzes the situation and uses his Dance of the Fire God. Akaza manages to avoid the attack but still receives a minor cut on his neck. Surprised by his achievement, he asks the young hunter how he came to wield his sword. Tanjiro continues to attack, however, Akaza holds his sword with both hands. Tanjiro panics as he is sure that his sword will be destroyed; He tries to stop that from happening and hits Akaza's head, but he doesn't flinch and continues holding the sword without much effort. No matter how many blows he lands, Akaza still doesn't move his hands away from him. At that moment, Giyu appears upset and cuts Upper Moon's wrists[38].

Giyu looks at Akaza and reveals that, for the first time in his life, he has come to feel overwhelmed by someone's strength. He marches steadily towards the Demon and tries to attack him with his sword. Akaza notices that something has changed in him and delivers a simple blow but is quickly dodged. Giyu attacks but Akaza manages to dodge his attack, even so, part of his neck is cut [39].

Akaza visualizes that the Hunter's signature mark has manifested on his opponent's face. Even though the mark was able to significantly increase Giyu's speed, Akaza does not stop and manages to match his speed. The Hunter attacks the Demon and manages to produce cuts on his arms, however, Akaza regenerates all the wounds that the Demon inflicts on him.[40]

Tanjiro watches the battle and is amazed by Akaza's abilities. He tries to understand the battle mode he uses and searches for an explanation for Akaza's incredible ability to detect his enemy's movements, even from blind spots. He remembers what happened during the battle with Kyojuro and what happens in the current battle. He comes to the conclusion that the Compass Needle may have something to do with his ability. To prove his theory, he attacks Akaza and the latter easily manages to stop Tanjiro's attack. Giyu takes advantage of the opportunity and manages to produce a slight cut in the demon's abdomen. [41]

The fierce battle between Akaza and Giyu continues. Between so many attacks, each one manages to cause superficial wounds on the other. Giyu feels overwhelmed with the demon's capabilities, he observes and believes that he is a man who gave up everything in his life, except for fighting. Akaza breaks the gap that separated both of them and comments that he is surprised by the fact that the hunter has endured for so long in battle.[42]

Giyu is cornered and tries to cut Akaza with his sword, but he manages to break the blade in half. He then attempts to pierce his opponent's abdomen the same way he did with Kyojuro, however, his attempt is stopped when Tanjiro cuts his wrist. After what happened, Akaza's instincts are activated and he feels that he must immediately kill the young hunter [43].

He performs the Technique Deployment and proceeds to activate one of his most powerful attacks. Applying the Final Style on him, he results in the formation of the Chaotic Blue Metal Radiance generating extremely strong and fast blows at random that attack, at the same time, from all directions around him. Giyu is seriously injured by the attack and Akaza believes that Tanjiro has died after receiving the blows. Giyu is surprised and realizes that Akaza is not able to detect that Tanjiro is still alive. Tanjiro then yells at Akaza, announcing that he will cut off Akaza's head. Even though he tries to avoid it, the hunter achieves his goal [44].

Akaza is baffled by what happened. He doesn't understand how Tanjiro lost his battle spirit and feels like he's fighting a plant. His head begins to fall and he grabs it back in his place, claiming that he can still fight. Giyu realizes his intentions and throws half of his sword at his head, causing him to fall to the ground [45].

Akaza's head begins to disintegrate, however, his body remains intact. Even without a head, Akaza maintains his composure and activates his Compass Needle, meanwhile, attempting to regenerate part of his head. He begins to launch attack after attack, surprising both hunters, who end up injured as a result of the blows produced by the Demon. Giyu tries to stop him, but no matter how many cuts he produces, Akaza regenerates them with great speed[46].

Akaza advances in the direction of the hunter, but stops when a young woman grabs his hand and says "Hakuji, stop..."[47]. Akaza doesn't understand who he is. He asks her to let go of his hand but the young woman refuses and insists that she give up the battle. Akaza claims he can't, as he needs to become even stronger. The young woman wants to know her reasons for holding firm to such a wish and Akaza responds that she must become stronger, since that is the only way to bring her father back. Akaza's past memories are then revealed.[48]

When he was human he lived under the name Hakuji. He was a child who was born in very precarious conditions, being cared for by a father who was seriously ill for whom he cared very much. Desperate for money for his father's medicine, Hakuji began committing crimes as a pickpocket. Even with bad luck pursuing him, he was arrested three times; On the third, his arms were marked with lines that identified him as a criminal and after being severely whipped, the magistrate in charge threatened to order that his hands be amputated if he was arrested again [Note 1]; In addition, she kept referring to him as a "demon child" because of the fangs he had since he was born [49].

After his third arrest, Hakuji learns that his father committed suicide upon learning of this fact by hanging herself in his house. In his farewell letter, he told his son that he regretted the final decision he made about him but that he preferred death to accepting her help in such a dishonest manner [50].

Orphaned, without a home to which he could return and marked as a criminal by the tattoos on his arms, the young man left Edo[Note 2]. Hakuji harbored a deep resentment towards society for the life he was given in which he could not get the medicine that could save his father's life, so, enraged and frustrated, he began to pick fights everywhere he went. was passing. In one of those fights in which he almost beat seven adult men to death, he would meet a man who was an expert in martial arts who had a dojo in that town whom he dared to challenge when he became upset by the happy and carefree attitude of he; His name was Keizo. Without much difficulty, Keizo defeats Hakuji[51].

Keizo took him in so he could take care of Koyuki, Keizo's sickly daughter. Her mother, her previous caregiver, committed suicide by drowning in a river due to stress and Keizo had to work maintenance jobs to survive, so Hakuji was tasked with caring for her.[52] Already accustomed to caring for her father, he had few problems caring for her, although he found it uncomfortable every time she burst into tears. One of those times, unbeknownst to him, he had indirectly motivated her by telling her that "there will be a next year" to watch the fireworks [53].

Three years later, Koyuki was already in good health, she could stand and do housework. Hakuji continued training as Keizo's student of the Soryu style, and the dojo began to grow. One day, Keizo offered Hakuji to take over the dojo, and take Koyuki as his fiancee, much to Hakuji's surprise and embarrassment. He agreed, silently promising to protect them both, even at the cost of his own life.[54]

At a festival, Koyuki told her about her past, asking her if she really agreed with her proposal, to which she reaffirmed her vows, promising to protect her for the rest of her life.[55]

Tragically, this vow was short-lived. He made a short trip to visit his father's grave and inform him of his marriage, but quickly realized something was wrong upon his return. A student at the dojo informed him that his rival kenjutsu dojo, which had always sought to take over the land owned by Keizo and prevented him from gaining students until Hakuji's arrival, had poisoned the well from which Koyuki and Keizo drank water. The two died shortly after drinking that water while Hakuji had been away.[56]

Enraged, Hakuji took justice into his own hands and killed all sixty-seven members of the rival dojo with his bare hands, pulverizing them to the point where their corpses were no longer recognizable.[57]

This incident caught Muzan's attention and, although he was disappointed to discover that it was a human rather than a demon who had done such a horrible act, he decided to turn Hakuji into one of the Twelve Demon Moons; Hakuji, with nothing to protect and having lost his will to live, agrees and becomes the demon Akaza.[58]

After becoming a demon, he lost his memories of the time when he stopped being human, with only one desire to become stronger despite not knowing the reason why he wanted to become strong.[59]

Still firm in his decision, Akaza feels upset at having remembered his weak past. He begins to rapidly regenerate much of his head and insists on continuing to fight. Tanjiro tries to stop him but his efforts are in vain and he ends up being beaten by Akaza. The young hunter believes that the Upper Moon is about to attack Giyu with the same attack that ended Kyojuro's life, however, Akaza uses his final attack to destroy himself. [60]

Akaza admits defeat and claims that Tanjiro's technique was magnificent. He comments that he wishes to go to hell as a man. Some final memories invade his mind, he imagines his father and Keizo, who welcome him, claiming that they will always forgive him for what he did.[61]

At that moment, Muzan appears in his memories, asking him if he wants to become stronger. Unconsciously, his body begins to regenerate but Koyuki stops him, grateful that Hakuji has regained his memories and stops him, stating that he has done more than enough. Finally, Akaza feels free from everything that bound him and his body ends up disintegrating. [62]

Human Skills:

Stamina Beyond Human Limit: Before being transformed into a demon, Akaza (Hakuji) demonstrated superhuman endurance at the age of 11 as he endured beatings that could make a grown man go numb (100 beatings) and earned the title of "Demon child"[1].

Superhuman strength: At the age of 11, he was already capable of fighting adult men twice his height and strength and by the time he turned 18[2], his strength was much greater thanks to his training in the Soryu style, being able to decapitate and dismember people with great ease using only their fists. Muzan went so far as to think that this was the work of a Demon[3].

"Soryu Style" (素流そりゅう式しき, Soryū Shiki?): A martial arts style based on bare fists and kicks that Keizo taught her when she lived with him and took care of Koyuki. He used it to kill Kenjutsu students with ease and was probably the inspiration for his total destruction style when he became Akaza [4].

Demon Skills:

Being the upper Moon number three, Akaza possesses much more strength and endurance than a conventional demon. The proof of his power lies in the fact that he killed the Pillar of Flame, Kyojuro Rengoku while trying to convince him to become a Demon. His strength is fully confirmed when he claims that in the past he murdered other Pillars besides Kyojuro. He was subsequently able to hold an even match with Tanjiro and Giyu which he was able to easily overcome, even when both Hunters used his marks and Tanjiro used the Dance of the Fire God. If not for the fact that he lost his fighting spirit after being decapitated, both Hunters would have been killed.

Regeneration: Like all demons, Akaza can regenerate from injuries that to a human can be life-threatening. He was able to regenerate from the cut wounds inflicted by Tanjiro and Kyojuro [5] and even lost his limbs from the wounds inflicted by Giyu with little effort. During his battle against Giyu and Tanjiro, his regeneration evolved further [6]. He was able to survive even after his head was cut off and was then able to regenerate a new one, a feat only Muzan and Kokushibo had achieved.

Hand-to-hand combat expertise: As mentioned, Akaza is an extremely dangerous demon due to his hand-to-hand combat qualities[7][8][9]. Even when he was beheaded by Tanjiro Kamado [10], his strength did not diminish [11].

Increased Speed: Akaza is extremely fast, to the point of, according to Tanjiro, being imperceptible to human eyes during his fight with Kyojuro Rengoku [12].

Increased Physical Strength: Akaza is quite strong physically. Demonstrations of his strength can be seen when, for example, he pierced Kyojuro's stomach to kill him during their confrontation[13], he was able to break Giyuu's sword with a single blow when he was going to deliver a cut from below[14], and He was finally able to destroy the head of Doma, the upper moon number two, with a single punch. With his demonic blood techniques, Akaza can leave large openings in solid surfaces which increases the danger of his attacks.

Demon Blood Technique (血けっ鬼き術じゅつ, Kekkijutsu?): As a member of the Twelve Demon Moons, he is able to make use of the demon blood technique and developed an ability known as "Technique Deployment" (術じゅつ式しき展てん開かい,, Jutsushiki Tenkai?)[16]. With the technique deployed from him, he is able to perform:

Total Destruction (破は壊かい殺さつ, Hakai satsu?) (lit. Killing of Destruction/Destructive Death): It is a type of martial arts, similar to the Soryu Style that he mastered during his days as a human[17]. This version is improved thanks to his abilities as a demon [18].

"Compass Needle" (羅ら針しん, Rashin?): Using this ability, he can display a compass under his feet and on each needle[19], the numbers from 1 to 10 are represented. The compass allows you to detect the fighting spirit of your enemy; The greater the spirit of it, the easier it is to detect it [20].

"Void Style" (空くう式しき, Kū-shiki?): Using this skill, he can punch the air and result in the creation of multiple shots in the form of waves that surround the enemy and try to crash into them[ twenty-one].

"Chaos Style" (乱らん式しき, Ran-shiki?): Using this ability, he can punch the air in front of him and create powerful waves that can be shot in the direction of the enemy[22]. The ability caused serious injuries to Kyojuro Rengoku, even after he applied his Fifth Stance: Fire Tiger [23].

"Destructive Style" (滅めっ式しき,, Mes-shiki?) (Lit. Style of Destruction): Using this skill, he punches the air with both fists and sends an explosive attack with great destructive power to the enemy. With this ability, he was able to overcome one of Kyojuro Rengoku's strongest attacks and injure part of his abdomen, causing a fatal wound [24].

"Leg Style" (脚きやく式しき,, Kiyaku-shiki?): It is a form of fighting where he is forced to use one of his legs to attack.[25] This form of fighting allows him to do:

"Crown Slash" (冠かむろ先さき割わり, Kamuro Saki Wari?): While one of his arms touches the ground, he raises one leg to strike his opponent, creating an effect similar to an axe. With the kick, he was able to prevent Tanjiro Kamado from causing him injuries with his sword.[26]

"Flowing Light Flash" (流りゆう閃せん群ぐん光こう, Riyūsengunkō?): He can perform several kicks at the same time, creating explosive flashes. Using this form, he managed to send Giyu Tomioka quite far from the place where their battle was taking place.[27]

"Ring of a Thousand Flying Planets" (飛遊ひゆう星せい干せん輪りん,, Hiyūsei Senrin?): With a simple kick, he can generate powerful, fluid waves around him that are sent in the direction of his opponent.[28]

"Crushing Style" (砕さい式しき,, Saishiki?): It is a form of fighting where he performs crushing attacks on the opponent[29]. This form of fighting allows him to perform:

"Willow of a Thousand Flashes" (万まん葉よう閃せん柳やなぎ,, Manyōsen Yanagi?): It can perform a fairly powerful blow, generating flashes on the ground and causing great destruction around it.[30]

"Final Style" (終しゆう式しき,, Shiyū-shiki?): It is the final form of his Technique Deployment power[31]. This fighting form allows him to perform:

"Chaotic Blue Metal Glow" (青あお銀ぎん乱らん残ざん光こう,, Aogin Ranzankō?): He can generate extremely strong and fast random blows that attack, at the same time, from all directions around him. This attack allows him to create thin flashes with a high penetrating capacity.[32]
