Gordon Shumway, known affectionately as ALF, is an extraterrestrial being from the planet Melmac. Born on the 28th of Nathinganger in the year 1756 according to the Melmacian calendar, Gordon’s life on his home planet was both eventful and quite ordinary for a Melmacian. He pursued a lengthy education in dentistry, lasting 122 years, and enjoyed a stint as an aquatero in the sport of Bouillabaiseball, a popular pastime on Melmac similar to baseball but played with seafood. Gordon’s life took a dramatic turn when he met Rhonda, a fellow Melmacian, and they planned a date. However, fate had other plans. Just days before their scheduled meeting, Melmac faced a catastrophic explosion. In a desperate bid to survive, Gordon escaped into space aboard his spacecraft. He drifted for a year until, on September 26, 1986, his ship crash-landed on Earth, specifically in the garage of a suburban family. Adapting to his new life on Earth, Gordon, now known as ALF, navigated the complexities of Earthly existence. His journey was not without challenges, but he managed to evade capture for a significant period. Eventually, he was discovered by the military and subjected to numerous tests. After proving his peaceful intentions, he was released, but sadly he’ll need to live his life without the Tanner Family.

ALF, or Gordon Shumway, is a character with a multifaceted personality that’s as vast as the universe he hails from. He’s known for his quick wit and sarcastic humor, often delivering jokes with a deadpan expression that belies his fuzzy exterior. His humor can be quite mischievous, and he’s not above pulling a prank or two to lighten the mood or simply for his own amusement. Despite his playful nature, ALF is also deeply caring and empathetic. He forms strong bonds with those he cares about and often goes to great lengths to help them, even if his methods are unconventional. His time on Earth showcases his ability to form meaningful relationships with humans, indicating a sociable and adaptable personality. ALF’s Melmacian background gives him a unique perspective on life, and he often approaches situations with a curiosity that can be both endearing and frustrating to those around him. He’s intelligent and resourceful, able to navigate the complexities of life on a foreign planet with a certain degree of finesse. However, ALF can also be impulsive and reckless, sometimes acting without considering the consequences of his actions. This trait often leads to humorous, if not chaotic, outcomes. His love for adventure and new experiences makes him a dynamic and unpredictable character, always keeping those around him on their toes.

ALF has a distinctive and memorable physical appearance. He stands at about three feet tall, with a furry body covered in orange-brown fur. His face is quite expressive, featuring a broad, flat nose reminiscent of the Saiga antelope, large, soulful eyes, and a wide mouth that often stretches into a mischievous grin. His ears are small and pointy, poking out from the sides of his head, and he has a modest tuft of hair on top. ALF’s hands and feet are also covered in fur, with four fingers on each hand, adding to his unique alien look. Despite his otherworldly origins, ALF’s appearance has a certain charm and approachability, which helped him become a beloved figure to the family with whom he lived on Earth

Brian Tanner: The young son, Brian shared a special bond with ALF, full of innocence and mutual curiosity. Lucky the Cat: Although ALF’s dietary preferences on Melmac included cats, Lucky and ALF reached a sort of understanding, and Lucky remained unharmed. Rhonda: ALF’s girlfriend from Melmac, although not on Earth, their relationship was a significant part of his backstory and emotional world. Skip and Rick: ALF’s best friends from Melmac, they shared many adventures together before the planet’s destruction.
