Persona Attributes

appearance

Wayne has a crescent-shaped head and a leather suit with more details since his overworld sprite is larger. His stoic expression is replaced by a more relaxed but neutral look. Instead of a weapon, Wayne begins without a weapon, as his attacks can be enhanced with the addition of gloves, which do not affect his appearance in the game.

In Hylics 2's opening level, Waynehouse, Wayne is just one of a species who all look identical to him. It is possible to equip Wayne with an alternate costume that features a tight-fitting dark indigo suit with a short cape-like shawl of the same color. His figure gains wider hips and a slimmer waist due to this design originally being the scrapped character Decres, a female member of Wayne's species.

personality

Wayne can be seen conversing with other characters during plot-related matters. As with many characters in Hylics 2, his dialogue is quite formal.

History

Hylics 2 begins in Waynehouse, with a different incarnation of Wayne as the initial member of the group.

One day, Wayne is summoned by Old Man Wayne (the Wayne of the previous Hylics), who warns him that Gibby is being resurrected by his cult followers, including the evil wizard Odozeir. . As Wayne is the only member of his species with enough training to leave Waynehouse, he sets out on his own to ban reconstitution.

On Old Man Wayne's orders, Wayne first travels to New Muldul to warn the town's mayor, Blerol. , which Gibby is resurrecting. However, he arrives to find that Blerol has been kidnapped and Pongorma is investigating the mayor's house for clues. He reveals that Blerol has been taken to a prison in the Viewax Building. Wayne and Pongorma travel there and meet Dedusmuln, whom they recruit and sneak into the fortress prison as a trio. They kill Viewax, lord of the fortress, and free Blerol and the other prisoners.

Back in New Muldul, Blerol informs Wayne and company that Gibby is being resurrected on Foglast Island. He gives Wayne an airship to reach Foglast and interrupt the ritual. However, the island is protected by a giant force field. The group follows electrical cables leading to a nearby island, where they find Somsnosa, who is repelling a monster invasion. Once assisted, Somsnosa joins the group and presents a key to enter the force field generator facility.

Once the field is closed, Wayne's group enters Foglast and attempts to stop the ritual, but Odozeir delays them. They defeat him, but Gibby is resurrected at the last moment. Gibby kills Wayne and his group, builds the Hylemxylem, and begins transmitting a strange signal that turns everyone in the world back into mindless, incoherent beasts.

Story 2

Upon returning from the Beyond, Wayne and company use a giant bomb to open the entrance to the ancient labyrinth. Once explored, they trigger the resurrection of the sage's airship. Upon boarding the ship, Wayne presents three Sage Tokens to learn Bombo-Genesis, an extremely powerful and forbidden gesture. Properly prepared, Wayne's group sets out for Hylemxylem.

They enter the artificial castle, elevated high in the sky, and finally break into Gibby's Chamber. Enraged, Wayne demands a fight and insists that the "long, dark era" of the Accretion is over. Gibby mocks Wayne, telling him that he was barely a larva during that time, and gets involved with the party. Through a long and difficult fight, Gibby is killed and the Hylemxylem is destroyed, freeing the planet's inhabitants from its curse.

Wayne, Dedusmuln, Somsnosa and Pongorma are taken to a concert in the Afterlife where they are able to meet various characters they met throughout the game. Once this is over, Wayne presses a switch in the Afterlife and is transported into the sky by a pair of mysterious red gloves. Wayne is not seen in person during the game's ending sequence.

curiosities

While the shape of his head is based on a crescent moon, Wayne's name is a play on the waning phases of the moon. According to Mason Lindroth, the characteristic shape of Wayne's head originated in the simplicity of his sculpting process. Mason described it as "a simple bent clay snake." When asked about Wayne's suit in the first Hylics, Mason Lindroth responded, "It was kind of a utility suit in Hylics 1, but I looked at too much fanart, so now it's a custom-made faux fur jumpsuit." In the first game, Wayne is shown to have a pet cat. Wayne plays guitar in the band at Band House, as well as in the concert at the end of Hylics 2. Mason Lindroth has joked that Wayne's blood type is "moon." Wayne's favorite food is the burrito. In the archives he is also known as "Clayman" and "Protag", which could be short for protagonist. In the Hylics 2 files, Wayne's black suit is known as "MaleWayne" and his blue suit as "FemWayne."

Effects it can inflict

Poromer Bleb: A healing gesture that also reduces the damage the target will take in the next attack. Soul Crisper: Burns enemies for two turns and prevents enemies like Poolmen from multiplying. Nematode Interface: Causes both the user and the target to bleed, although the user is unaffected if cast while under the effect of Charge Up. Time Sigil: Slows enemies before putting them to sleep. Charge Up: Strengthens the next attack and grants special effects to each character's unique gesture. Its effects become stronger throughout the game as Wayne gathers antennae. Fate Sandbox: Makes an ally immune to all statuses except stunned. Teledenudate: Removes positive statuses from an enemy or negative statues from an ally. Link Mollusc: Transfers all negative statuses to all enemies. Dissolution: Wayne's unique gesture. Reduces the target's attack and causes dissolution, making them slowly melt. The fusion effect is much more powerful if Wayne has used Charge Up beforehand. Bombogenesis: The ultimate gesture, deals damage to all enemies, multiplied by the group's total will divided by 4.

The beyond

The Afterlife is not a move Wayne can use, but rather the place he is transported to when he and his crew die. There, you can increase your maximum health by putting meat from enemies you've defeated into a meat grinder, take a quick bath to temporarily avoid suffering status effects, or teleport to various areas where you've activated a teleporter, or return to the one where you died. .
