He moved to Truro at the age of 8 years. In 1965 Roger joined his first band, called Johnny Quale and The Reaction. When vocalist Johnny Quale left the group, Roger became the vocalist and the group began to be called simply The Reaction, which lasted until July 1968. That same year he moved to the London Hospital Medical School in London, where he began his studies in odontology. He later dropped out to study biology at North London Polytechnic. Also that year he auditioned for Tim Staffell and Brian May, who were looking for a Ginger Baker-style drummer. Roger passed the audition and became the drummer for Smile, a band that performed several concerts until 1970, when Tim Staffell left the project. An acquaintance of Freddie Mercury, he was the one who introduced him to Brian May, and just when Tim Staffell left Smile, that's when Mercury had the opportunity to start singing with Roger Taylor and Brian May. His friendship with Brian on the one hand and meeting Freddie on the other, make Roger the true link for the creation of the Queen embryo. Later in 1971 John Deacon joined them. Within Queen he was one of the most influential and influential voices when it came to making decisions, both artistic and business. In the 70s he sang several of their songs and throughout the band's entire career he was a backing vocalist, providing second vocals on many of their songs, something unheard of in groups of the time, and he was the one who supported Freddie on live songs. He was a friend of Brian's since the days of Smile, a friendship they still maintain today. He always appeared to be one of the most outgoing members of the band, along with Freddie. Among his best compositions are "I'm In Love With My Car", "Sheer Heart Attack", "Radio Ga Ga", "A Kind of Magic", "These Are The Days Of Our Lives" and "Heaven for Everyone ", the most successful cut from the Made In Heaven album. Taylor also provided vocals on Queen songs such as-

"The Loser in the End", "I'm In Love With My Car", "Rock It (Prime Jive)", "Tenement Funster", "Fight From The Inside", "Fun It", "Drowse", "A Human Body" and "No One But You (Only The Good Die Young)". Together with Brian H. May and Freddie Mercury he participated as a soloist in the song "Let Me Live" from the album Made in Heaven (last album with the original voice of Freddie Mercury of Queen).
