Donnie is a mutated anthropomorphic teenage Ninja Turtle with olive skin. Unlike all of his previous incarnations, this new, updated version of Donnie has a gap between his teeth in addition to a taller, slimmer body. Has large red-brown eyes. It also has an egg-shaped head. Like most incarnations, he wears a purple mask, where the tails of the mask are longer than those of any of his brothers except Raph.

His ninja equipment consists of brown knee and elbow pads, light brown bands wrapped around his ankles, wrists, and white bands wrapped around his fingers.

Donatello is incredibly creative and smart. He is an incredibly skilled scientist, having a "way with machines". He is a professional scientist, mechanic and mathematician. He devoted a lot of time to the study of technology, biology, physics, chemistry, mathematics and metallurgy. It is Donnie who invents many machines and gadgets that can be useful in battle.

An accomplished ninjutsu master, he often places more faith in his knowledge and inventions than in the more spiritual advice Master Splinter taught him. Despite his intelligence and knowledge, Donnie often tends to overcomplicate problems and overthink things. Most likely this is because Donnie often passes everything through his mind, and it is difficult for him to understand spiritual instructions, believe and act intuitively and without thinking, since Donnie usually, in order for something to work out, needs to understand and know with his mind. This also applies to Splinter's advice, which ultimately becomes too much of a burden on him and causes consequences.

Donatello is very soft, sentimental, knows how to be gentle and understanding, loving and romantic. He is in love with April, and sometimes it is very difficult to talk to her. April would sometimes kiss him. His friend and rival, Casey, is also in love with April, and this may cause tension between them.

Donnie is also socially awkward, as he often does not understand others and has difficulty speaking, causing his brothers, especially Raphael and his friend Casey, to bully him. Also, his way of speaking can cause problems, as Donnie often speaks in complex and scientific terms. When he tries to explain his invention or part of a plan to the team, the team does not understand what he is saying, which can sometimes be frustrating.

Despite Donny's intelligence, he can be very nervous. He hates being abandoned by his brothers, especially Leo and Raph in difficult situations. He gets very annoyed when Leo puts pressure on him to do things right. He also gets angry when something breaks, especially when it is his invention.

Leo and Donnie are good brothers. They usually get along well and do not argue, since both are responsible, but due to different approaches and opinions (Donnie is softer, impulsive and not decisive, preferring to rely on rational thinking and technology, and Leo is more decisive, experienced, mature, morally stable and relies on spiritual advice from Splinter and himself) they often have arguments and when Leo tries to ask Donnie to do more it angers him. Sometimes Leo overprotects the younger one. This also infuriates and angers Donatello. Also, Leo sometimes forgets about his younger age, placing too much on him, expecting full return from him in a short period of time, as from himself, which also angers him.
Raph and Donnie have a difficult time communicating. Raph usually teases Donnie, due to the fact that Donnie often takes a long time to explain scientific facts or complicates the situation and does not speak clearly. But Raf helps him communicate a little with April. Sometimes he can also calmly listen to the younger one.
Mickey and Donnie have the most interaction. Donnie usually gets angry at Mickey because of his jokes, but unlike Raphael, Donnie doesn't get that angry and often forgives Mickey. The closest of all the brothers is Michelangelo. Donnie and Mickey are good brothers and friends.
Splinter and Donnie get along well, but Donnie often complicates his advice, turning it into problems for himself. He loves Splinter very much and tries to listen to him.

April and Donnie get along well and are good friends. Donnie is in love with her, but doesn't know how to say it, but April will eventually find out.
Casey and Donnie are rivals. They usually clash over April. And they are good friends.
Fugitoid and Donny are good friends. The fugitoid is like a teacher and guide for Donny to the mysterious world of space, and teaches Donny a lot. Donnie is sometimes frustrated by how little he knows about space. Donnie was shocked to learn that Fugitoid was the creator of the heart of darkness, but despite this, he did not hold a grudge against him like Leo, Raph and Casey.
Dr. Rockwell and Donnie are friends, but they often argue because Rockwell speaks quickly and does not let him finish, doing things in his own way, but despite this, they are good friends who understand each other in the field of science.
Sprayer and Donnie don't communicate well. Basically Donnie tries to explain everything to him, but it doesn't help because Timothy is stupid. Over time, Donnie becomes worried about him. When he mutated, Donnie left him in the hope that he could someday make him human again.
Dr. Kudakhchenko and Donny are good friends and colleagues. Donnie was at first annoyed because the chicken drank the mutagen and became a mutant, but after seeing her big brain and enormous intelligence, Donnie and Doctor Kudakhchenko became good friends.

Bebop and Donny are enemies. Mostly Bebop fights with Donnie, and they often communicate. In addition to Donnie Bebop, he often fights with Mickey.
