MARY is sitting alone in the garden, reading a book. An elegant woman, approximately in her 30s. Suddenly, a man named TOM enters the garden from the opposite side. Tom is muscular, dark and carries a mysterious air. Mary's ex-husband. Mary shivers slightly when she sees Tom, closes her book and stands up. MARY (voice shaky) "Tom, what are you doing here?" TOM (coldly) "I just came to see you, Mary. I wanted us to talk a little." Mary steps back with concern and puts some distance between them. MARY (with uncertainty) "Is there something? What do you want to talk about?" TOM (carefully) "I just want to make right our past mistakes, Mary. I still love you." Mary experiences emotional turmoil and looks sincerely at her ex-husband. MARY (with difficulty) "Tom, that's in the past now. You and I were over, remember?" TOM (in cold blood) "I remember. But I still have hope, Mary. We deserve another chance together."
