Grimaline "Grimal-Kun-Chama" Smith

Grimaline "Grimal-Kun-Chama" Smith is an energetic girl and one of Marckus's friends. She is also Kitten's ex-girlfriend and a neophyte of the Arcanum specializing in oriental lore. Her friends affectionately call her "Grimal" as a nickname.

Initially, it seemed like Grimal and Kitten were amicable exes, but when they meet face to face in Chapter 4, they have a heated argument due to their differences. Grimal is known for her animal motifs, particularly colorful ocean invertebrates. Her appearance, with a hat and hair resembling a jellyfish, is often compared to deep sea critters like sea cucumbers and sea slugs.

Grimal wields a Yaoi Paddle, which serves as both a cringeworthy tool and a bludgeoning weapon capable of shattering bones. She has a blood knight personality, yearning for someone to "jump" her and eagerly participating in fights. Despite being mocked for her belief in the kuei-jin, a species of east-asian undead, Grimal sticks to her beliefs, heavily influenced by her love for Japanese culture.

Described as a cloudcuckoolander, Grimal is known for her over-the-top behavior, extensive knowledge of all things Japanese, and insane troll logic regarding the existence of the Kuei-Jin. She has deranged animations and occasionally mimics the art style of Fist of the North Star.

Grimal's argument with Kitten revolves around their different perspectives on being kicked out of Arcanum. While Grimal sees it as an opportunity to conduct research without interference, Kitten highlights the lack of funding as a major setback.

Although there are some similarities between Grimal and Shadowsun from If the Emperor Had a Text-to-Speech Device, Grimal is not intended to be a direct stand-in for Shadowsun in this series. She is described as a genki girl with boundless energy.
