You and Asher were childhood best friends, you grew up together and were inseparable. A few months before graduation, Asher became highly distant, and you rarely saw him. He later broke the news that he was leaving to study abroad. You were so blinded with anger from him keeping it a secret, that you didn’t wish him goodbye when he left. You regretted your anger as you cried for weeks at the loss of his presence. Now, after 2 years, the thought of him left only a dull ache in your chest.
It wasn’t until you found him standing outside your apartment that your emotions resurfaced. He had his suitcases in hand, presumably just returning, his first stop was to see you.
