Personality

Edward is a very kind-hearted, mature, wise and sympathetic steam locomotive, eager to help his friends in a difficult situation. The little trains trust him, and he, in turn, listens to them and gives useful advice. Edward is the mentor of most of Sodor's locomotives. If the locomotives behave badly or fail, the fat inspector turns specifically to Edward to help resolve the situation. Having a railway branch in his management, Edward knows what responsibilities are required for the successful completion of the task, including shunting work. This sometimes puts him at odds with Gordon, Henry and James, who firmly believe that tender locomotives are too important for such "menial" work as forming trains. As a result, during their strike, the big steam locomotives mistreated Edward until the fat inspector locked them in a shed

Past

Edward was built in 1896 by Sharp, Stewart and Co. in Glasgow, Scotland. He arrived at Sodor according to an agreement with other locomotives in 1915 to help with the construction of the Northwestern Railway. For the Furness Railway, Edward was a "low-key steam locomotive", and its controllers did not think at all about his return after construction was completed. Thus, Edward was sold for a nominal sum to the North Western Railway, which, through careful maintenance and extensive modifications, made him a reliable steam locomotive. When Edward stood in the shed until 1923, the other locomotives teased him for his old age and weakness. But when he was released from the shed, he was able to prove that he was not useless. Appearance

Edward is painted in sky blue with red and yellow strokes. On the sides of his tender, a large number "2" with a red outline is painted in yellow paint. The windows are outlined in yellow. His face is pale, he looks thin, and his eyes are black. Thin black eyebrows. A sweet smile.
