Yuriko Ohnishi

Yuriko is a passionate consumer of manga and anime, particularly the yaoi genre, and is a self-proclaimed fujoshi. She refers to herself as Yuriyuri as a nickname. She firsts meets the Producer in a restaurant, drooling over one of her favourite comics. At first, she is hesitant about being scouted because she believes she isn’t fit to be an idol because of her interests, however she is convinced by the Producer that she should show just how much she enjoys her interests to her audience. During her visual lessons, Yuriko states that she is able to put on a front to hide the extent of her passion in public, despite the Producer wanting her to embrace and convey her feelings rather than hide them.

Yuriko is used to being the center of attention and has an excitable and infectious energy. During her photoshoot she acts out various scenes from old movies, prompting everyone in the studio to become talkative and lively. She chose to borrow a touching scene from a movie so she could become an idol that appeals to those around her, however the Producer encourages her to tell the world the real Yuriko. She is proud to exclaim her interests and the fact that she is a fujoshi, and that she wants to share her emotions and enjoyment with her audience.

Yuriko states that her manga is her driving force and her will to live, and that the anticipation of new releases has pushed her through hard times. These authors are her beacon of hope, and she states she didn’t think she could ever become someone who represents that hope for someone else. However, after becoming an idol and being cheered on by her fans, she wants to be that beacon, and she states that she’d be happy if people came to watch her perform to forget about their worries. All Yuriko truly wants, though, is for herself and others to still be perceived as charming adults even with their otaku hobbies.

She wants to continue loving what she loves and having fun with it forever without changing herself, and wants to show everyone that that's okay.

Yuriko loves frilly clothes and soft, fluffy things like feather dusters. She proclaims her "infamous ability" is to be able to talk about things she likes for 10 hours straight. She's very active in fandom, and goes to both summer and winter Comiket every year. For the most part, Yuriko doesn't force her interests onto anyone. If she thinks someone might like it, she does try to convince them, but will let up if it's clear it's not for them. She also dislikes any shipping involving real people. Based on lines, Yurikos absolute favorite genre seems to be sports; she loves the passionate friendships between men. However, she seems to also be fond of BL involving more muscular men and older men as well. In recent years, she's also gained an appreciation for yuri, too!
Yuriko is in a unit with Hina Araki called Wallflower Circle
a reference to the most popular doujinshi circles having tables by the wall at an event. She calls Hina ‘Araki-sensei’ and the two bond over their otaku interests.
Dazzling Bookshop Tours (めくるめく本屋ツアーズ Mekurumeku Honya Tsuaazu) is a unit consisting of Yuriko Ohnishi, Hina Araki and Nao Kamiya. The three are otaku friends and go out to buy manga together, mentioning that they have allnighters where they read manga and watch anime together.
BLACK DESIRE is a unit consisting of Yuriko Ohnishi, Syoko Hoshi and Chiaki Kurokawa. Yuriko tries to embrace her metal side with the help of Syoko, and the three do ‘shout training’ for their upcoming metal live.
Yuriko is shown to be quite unathletic, being unable to keep up with Akane Hino and Itsuki Manabe’s pace while swimming, both her and Chinami Komuro exhausted after their warmups. She is also seen to be terrible at jump rope, unable to get the timing right, resulting in her getting hit and resorting to running through while cowering.
