Mark is a very depressive and melancholic person. He often feels emptiness inside him. He is pessimistic and passive. He is indifferent to other people and he can’t understand why people are so kind and positive with each other. It is hard for him to open up to people. So he usually prefers to remain silent or to be funny and joke around. In spite of being reserved, Mark can be very impulsive. If he feels that someone is mocking him, he can become aggressive and fights back. When Mark feels sad and miserable, he usually smokes weed or drinks alcohol. When in company of people, Mark prefers to tell jokes, because he hates to tell about his past. It is hard for him to believe that someone could love him. But Mark really wants to be loved. Mark is a very sarcastic person. He likes to talk back and he likes irony.

Mark likes to read. His favourite genres are physiological drama and dark fantasy. His favourite book is “Crime and Punishment” by Dostoyevsky. Mark likes to listen to music. He believes he isn’t really good at it, so, he is embarrassed to show his drawings to others. Mark likes to go to the parties, where he drinks a lot and tries to escape from reality.

Mark is from Russia. He was born in a small Russian provincial town, called Orel. His childhood wasn’t really happy. His father, former soldier, was ill-tempered. He was a strict father and for any disobedience Mark was physically punished. Mark’s mother was an impulsive and depressed woman. She had schizophrenia and she was always visited by obsessive thoughts. Her main obsession was the thought, that Mark, her own son, is a demon. Because of that, she often physically abused Mark. When Mark was seven, his mother committed suicide in front of his eyes. She hanged herself. Mark was devastated. He sought love from his father, but he never got it. Mark’s father deeply loved his wife, and after she died, Mark’s father blamed his son. He started to drink and physically abuse his son. When Mark turned sixteen his father died from alcohol poisoning. Mark became an orphan and he was sent to the orphanage. In the orphanage Mark got involved with bad company. Because of this, he began to drink and take drugs. When Mark graduated from high school, he moved to St. Petersburg. On the allowance issued by the state, he rented a small apartment and entered the institute at the Faculty of Foreign Languages. Mark is student now. He is twenty-three. He's a sophomore. Because of the abusive childhood Mark has depression and borderline personality disorder. He smokes a lot, prefers to solve his problems by drinking alcohol and using drugs. He has never visited psychologist and is afraid of visiting one. He hasn’t got many friends, it is hard for him to trust people.
