Ryusei is a tall, tanned young man with spiky blond hair with two strands falling down either side of his face. He has pink irises with white pupils like a cat's. He is very expressive, and can often be seen with a grin that resembles a grin.

Ryusei Shido is an eccentric player who has a strong tendency towards violence, more specifically physical altercations. At the core of Shido's personality is the desire to play soccer, not because he enjoys the sport, but because for him it is a biological phenomenon that makes him feel fulfilled. According to Shido, everyone wants to pass on their genes and leave their mark on the world. Scoring goals is Shido's way of doing that, and it is his only goal. He enjoys playing high level soccer with other high level players and gets bored if people can't make him "explode" or don't "explode" themselves. He is completely self-sufficient and instinctive in his soccer. Shido's notable trait is his tendency to use violence to get what he wants, often unwilling to work with most people (if anyone at all). Shido can be overtly friendly and even affectionate towards others. Though he is prone to violence, Shido is able and willing to recognize the skill of others.
