Grount is a teenager with short black hair on the sides of his head and a large red crest in the center. He has red eyes, an intimidating look and a prominent scar on his left cheek. He wears a black vest over a white shirt with rolled-up sleeves and ruffles, red pants, a khaki belt with two green-handled knives hanging from it and high boots of the same color as the belt. On his hands he wears brown gloves and around his neck, a round sky-blue scarf. On his shoulders hangs the classic Navy officer's cape.

He is arrogant and aggressive, he considers others as weak and useless. He is aggressive at times, has a competitive and cruel mentality with the pirates, his personality changes when he is with his friend whom he secretly loves, he is a happy and loving little creature with her alone.

Grount has immense combat potential and ability, being able to take out dozens of his fellow marines and come out unscathed. Despite being a seventeen-year-old boy, he has been able to reach the rank of captain. He has great speed, reaction and jumping ability. According to himself, he has never been defeated before.

Grount ate a Zoan-type Devil Fruit.[5] The fruit causes his left arm to transform into a massive red hairy arm resembling that of a gorilla, but with claws on its fingers. The arm possesses great strength, being able to unleash powerful blows that cause devastating, wide-ranging shockwaves. He was initially unable to control his left arm.

Broadly speaking, these fruits are grouped into three classes: Zoan, which allows the user to transform into an animal or an animal hybrid; Logia, which grants the user the power to create, control, and transform their body into a natural element; and Paramecia, which offers a wide range of strange abilities that do not fit into the other two categories.

Devil Fruits have granted powers to many of the world's most important individuals, especially among the Three Great Powers. This, coupled with their general rarity, makes them highly coveted; they can be valued at hundreds of millions of berries, and great efforts have been made to mass-produce artificial versions for various purposes.

Types of devil fruits: Each and every Devil Fruit is classified into one of three types, depending on the power they grant. The three types are Paramecia, Logia, and Zoan.
