Tavros Nitram, also known by his Trollian nickname, adiosToreador, is one of the Trolls. His nickname can refer to two things. One, the loss of his legs in goodbye. The other, bullfighter, who sits him down, seeing his enormous bull horns associated with his zodiac sign, Taurus (♉). Due to an accident during one of his Flarp sessions, he became a paraplegic. The Lusus of Tavros (his father), Toronilla: The Lusus of Tavros is a small creature with a proportionally gigantic bull's head with immense horns similar to those of Tavros (and much more to those of Pupa Pan). The Lusus was affectionately nicknamed “Toronilla” by Tavros himself. The two seem to have a very good relationship, often playing Fiduspawn together. Toronilla was soon killed when Tavros accidentally ran his chair over him.

Trolls are a race of aliens, who live on a planet called Alternia. They have gray skin, orange eyes with dark gray irises which can turn the color of the troll's blood as they grow. One of its most notable features are the red, orange, and yellow horns that emerge from its head, the shape of which resembles candy corn. The names and surnames of young trolls always have six letters each, while adults tend to acquire names or titles of eight letters, although there are exceptions for shorter or longer names. Each Troll is associated with a sign, and wears a shirt with that sign that is assigned from an alphabet for each caste, making a blood mutation that puts a troll outside the caste system normally unsigned. Some crimes often include stripping them of their sign as part of the punishment. Adult trolls reproduce with their genetic material (saliva) into daughter buckets carried by Imperial Drones that are offered to the monstrous Mother Grub who is brooding underground in the caverns. She then combines all the genetic material into one big diabolical incest slurry (where the most dominant genes are highlighted among others) and lays hundreds of thousands of eggs at a time. The eggs hatch into young troll larvae, which wiggle to locate a convenient stalactite so they can spin their cocoons. Interestingly, a young larva's eyes are the same as the color of its blood, while adolescents have gray irises. It is assumed that this change is part of a drastic metamorphosis during pupation. For unknown reasons, a number of larvae are sacrificed (to make paint).

After pupating, the young troll with his newly discovered hips undergoes a series of dangerous tests. If they survive, they are chosen by one of the various terrifying underground monsters native to Alterna, terrifying beasts better known as the 'Lusus'. This creature becomes the troll's guardian, behaving for life as a bodyguard, watchman, and a type of visceral mentor, while the young troll has to learn the role of a type of zookeeper. Together, they emerge and choose a location to build a hive, Alternia's equivalent of a house. The construction process is facilitated by carpenter droids left on the planet to tend to the young trolls in the building. Because their procreation system is not completely clear, it is not well known about, if any, distinction between genders other than outward appearance. They lack homosexuality and heterosexuality since most trolls are bisexual or pansexual and offspring can be formed by couples of any gender combination. This possibly relegates any potential physical difference in the genitals and leaves the sexual characteristic in the background as something aesthetic, except perhaps from the actual mechanics of intercourse itself. It is also possible that all trolls are genetically of a single sex if the Mother Larva provides genetic material during conception, therefore they are equivalent to another sex, rather than merely a gestation house for already fertilized zygotes. Despite this, this would only operate in such a case that the Mother Larva is the same species as the trolls, or that the trolls only exist in continuous hybridization.

On the other hand, the drones are shown holding two separate cubes with different symbols on each arm, one specifically for kissmesisstud, and another for mastersprit, and it can be determined that the genetic materials are different depending on the pair. In other words, a mastersprit pair and a kissmesis pair could possibly result in the release of different gametes, explaining why tagging in drones. The relationships between trolls are built around hate and compassion and are very, very confusing. There are four quadrants for troll romance: mastesprition (♥), closest to human romance; moiralianza(♦), or "predestined friend"; kismessistud(♠), or "predestined rival"; and auspiticism (♣), which involves three people, two rivals (♠) and a mediator (♣).

He was mentioned as having participated in the same extreme role-playing games that Terezi, Vriska, and Aradia took part in some time before the events of Hivebent. Tavros was a member of Team Onslaught along with Aradia. His character is from the LARKBOY class, and is based on the Tavros hero, Pupa Pan. Both he and Aradia agree that although the class lacks powers until it reaches a very high level, it is best for playing and having fun, instead of being aggressive and greedy for treasure like other players. During the session, his Clouder, Vriska, used her mind control powers to force him to jump off a cliff, causing him to become paralyzed. So he went to Karkat and told him what happened. Karkat's response was to call him an idiot and tell him to stop playing games for girls. This may have caused Tavros to subsequently distance himself from Karkat. Tavros got new robotic legs built for him, the legs were built by Equius, and his flesh legs were disturbingly cut off with Kanaya's chainsaw.

Tavros is too sensitive to be a decent troll, to the point that he even tries to help Jade. He sucks at trolling and usually ends up getting trolled. On his surface, he seems innocently unaware of his own shortcomings as a troll, or the ridicule of others – Karkat says he is incapable of truly hating anyone, not even his thorn in the side, Vriska. However, he copes with the negativity he faces from the other trolls by personifying his self-esteem, which he has named Rufio. Using a technique suggested by Kanaya, Tavros imagines that he speaks to his self-esteem in the form of Rufio, and is careful not to let anything hurt Rufio's feelings.
