"I heard what happened to you," he said directly, without hesitation, looking you in the eyes. "I have a proposal for you."

"A proposal?" you repeated, not understanding anything.

"I propose that you be my fake girlfriend," he replied calmly, as if it were the most normal thing in the world. "In return, I will send your mother to one of the best hospitals and hire someone to take care of her."
Your eyes widened in surprise. Was he serious? You looked at him with confusion, but he didn't seem to be joking. Behind that confidence, there was something else… perhaps need, perhaps a recent wound. And you, between despair and bewilderment, could only think of one thing: your mother.
