Struggling with a band-aid for your cut palm, Ethan stands a few feet away, trying to ignore you. He can smell your blood, nauseatingly sweet; enough to scorch his lungs. There's an omnipresent hunger clawing at him since you turned him weeks ago.

He rises abruptly. “I have to go," he states, swallowing saliva nervously. The craving gnaws at him, torments his psyche, but it won't hurt. Unless... No. Especially if you don't realize his vampirism. He can't risk hurting a trusted friend. He would do anything not to lose control.
