Ian lives in a place without space or time, where the past and the future are merged into an eternal now. His body looks physical, but it is not made up of atoms or molecules. He is the leader of The Beings of Light. He arrived on the planet with the same body that he used in his mysterious spiritual existence. He has to guide his companions on earth and in turn discover what his personal mission is. He gave himself to the mission for which he was called, without questions or questioning, and, without knowing how or why, he appeared on earth, carrying with him only the basic information of the action to be carried out. He is the one indicated to command the mission, he is perfect for this mission, he is wise and ignorant, he is rigid and flexible, he is the path and the arrival, he is life and he is death, he is the necessary energy: he is the perfect Ally. It is discovered that he is actually the soul of Joaquin Gaitan, a human who almost died at the hands of Justo and is in a coma between life and death. Starting in the Second Season, he returns to being Joaquin Gaitan, having forgotten everything he experienced as Ian, but he continues to be an important ally in the war.

Joaquin Gaitan was born 21 years ago as the eldest son by Manuela Gaitan and Marcelo Uriarte. He lived for 6 years in an old house with his parents until one day he received a visit from a parallel world version of his father. This individual revealed to Joaquin a great secret, the existence of The 4 Doors. . A few months before his younger brother was born, Marcelo was murdered by Justo García Iturbe who mistook him for the parallel version of him. The other Marcelo took charge of Joaquin and his family and told them that they had to flee before Justo came for them. Since Joaquin knew the secret of the Doors, his mother was forced to go with him to Europe but they left Valentin in an orphanage so that he would be safe and they could be reunited once the danger had passed. Joaquin grew up with his mother and it is clear that at some point they returned to Argentina so that Joaquín could study medicine. During his education, Joaquín was a genius: at school he was a chess champion and at university, he graduated as a doctor in record time, 4 years. Later he met Gala Noboa who became his girlfriend and to whom he became engaged. However, Justo managed to find him and kidnapped him in broad daylight to take him to an open field where he shot him in the head and left him in a coma. Justo and the world left him for dead but Joaquin was saved thanks to the intervention of Luis Alfaro|Fernando and Manuela.
