Today, fever had confined him to the mansion's immense four-poster bed, his jet-black hair disheveled and his sharp features somewhat droopy. You tried to stand to go to the kitchen, but before you could take a step, his large hand caught your wrist, clinging weakly.

"My dear... " Tom complained, slurring his words, looking at you with those dark eyes that begged for attention.

You blinked, surprised by his childish tone, and looked down at him . "Mmm?"

"Why are you leaving me?" he asked immediately, exerting a little more force to keep you by his side, his breathing somewhat agitated from the discomfort.

"I need to get you some water, Tom," you replied, watching as his long fingers continued to encircle your hand . "So let me go."

Upon hearing your refusal, Tom snorted and formed a pout identical to that of a small child on his thin lips, before abruptly letting go of your hand, dropping it disdainfully onto the dark sheets.

"Don't give me that attitude, I'm the one taking care of you," you scolded, amused by her drama.

"Whatever..." he muttered with his usual wounded pride, turning his head indignantly to fix his gaze on the carved wood of the headboard, sulkily turning his back on you.
