Tenya Iida

Tenya may appear stern, hostile, and even intimidating at first glance, but he is actually a very sincere, intelligent, disciplined, and noble person, also a bit clueless about personal interactions due to his elite upbringing. Thanks to his generally proactive, enthusiastic, and energetic behavior, Tenya often exhibits many peculiar tics, such as moving his arms in strange patterns or sometimes shaking his own body uncontrollably, but he rarely sheds his usual strict expression.

He tends to take everything very seriously and is known for his habit of jumping to conclusions and then speaking or acting enthusiastically based on said conclusions. For example, after assuming that Izuku Midoriya had figured out the true nature of the UA Entrance Exam (despite Izuku only acting on a whim), Tenya began to recognize him as a worthy partner and has since held him in high regard. Tenya always tries to immerse himself heavily in practical exercises, playing his role of either hero or villain in an overly theatrical manner as an attempt to appear more authentic.

He is extremely dedicated to his studies and is always eager to learn new things, regardless of whether they have anything to do with Heroes or not. As the representative of Class 1-A, Tenya is obsessed with organization and discipline and expects his classmates to do the same, which often annoys them due to his generally loud and domineering nature.

Tenya takes personal responsibility for the safety and guidance of his classmates in times of crisis, considering it his duty as class representative to protect them and keep them away from dangerous situations should they arise. He knows how to respond quickly to emergency situations, ensuring that panic and disorder among onlookers are minimized.

Tenya is very humble, willing to admit his mistakes, apologize for his rude behavior, and improve in areas where he lacks. This was made clear when Tenya admitted that seeking revenge against Stain was not the way a true hero should act and when he decided to leave his damaged left hand unrepaired as a reminder of his recklessness and also as motivation to pursue true heroism. Tenya values ​​honor and fair play, becoming outraged if it turns out he is being manipulated by selfish people or motives.

Being part of the highly esteemed Iida family, Tenya is proud of his lineage and works hard to live up to the expectations placed upon him. Tenya admires his older brother, Tensei Iida (also known as the Turbo Hero "Ingenium"), and aspires to become a similar hero.

His bond with his brother is so strong that after Tensei was severely injured by Stain, Tenya tried to avenge him by trying to hunt down and get rid of Stain, breaking several rules of the Hero job in the process, which would otherwise be extremely uncharacteristic of him. Having inherited the alias Ingenium, Tenya now works hard so he can uphold his brother's Hero name as well as the Iida Family's reputation.

After what happened with Stain, Tenya has become more mature and reasonable. When Katsuki Bakugo was captured by the League of Villains and several members of Class 1-A were considering going to rescue him, he was one of those who most opposed the idea because he understands that even though they are heroes in training, they are minors and their actions will have strong consequences that would fall on adults, especially the teachers of their academy. He even went so far as to hit Izuku Midoriya who had just been discharged from the hospital. However, deep down, Tenya's actions come from how much he cares for his friends and from not wanting to see them get hurt. Like Izuku, Tenya is very empathetic and understanding with his friends. |After it is revealed that Yuga Aoyama is the traitor of U.A, Tenya defends him, coming to understand why he did what he did and that instead of blaming and judging him, he deserves to be forgiven, also arguing that part of the blame is theirs for not realizing everything he had been suffering all that time.

Tenya is a relatively tall and muscular young man with a broad build. He has short, dark blue hair, straight and cropped on the left side of his head, a shaved neck, and rather square eyes that match the noticeably pointed shape of his jaw.

He usually has a serious expression, and his eyebrows appear to be permanently furrowed, quite thin and long, the far ends of which are tightly curled inward. He wears glasses with rectangular lenses. Due to his Quirk, he possesses incredibly thick calves shaped like car engines, with three silver exhaust pipes protruding from each one.

His Hero Costume consists of a black one-piece suit with a high collar, over which he wears several pieces of armor, all pale silver in color, including a chest plate, a metal collar around his neck and another around his upper arm, and metal bracers that extend past his elbows, pointing at the ends.

He wears a helmet that covers his entire face, its sharp horn filled with holes to allow him to speak and breathe easily and its rounded top piece atop his head with two larger holes on either side, two curved horns just behind it and a single spike sticking out of the back of his head.

Standing, he wears knee-high silver boots with golden accessories, which are specialized for his Quirk, and around his torso, he has three thick metal tubes joined with a blue band, although these only serve as decoration. His armor is very light and does not protect him.

General Abilities: Tenya has repeatedly proven himself to be a very formidable combatant. Thanks to his Quirk, Tenya has been revered as one of the fastest students in Class 1-A and uses his increased speed to complement his fighting style which involves powerful, high-speed kicks that can even crush metal. Using his incredible speed and quick reflexes, Tenya was able to defeat Ibara Shiozaki, one of the most formidable students in Class 1-B, and nearly defeated Shoto Todoroki, one of the strongest students in Class 1-A, but the latter surprised Tenya by freezing his silencers before encasing Tenya in ice. Shoto and Izuku, two of the most powerful students in their class, have commented on Tenya's superior speed, and while Izuku has trained to keep up with Tenya, Shoto is unable to keep up with all of Tenya's high-speed moves.

When faced with Stain, a powerful S-rank villain who surpassed many professional heroes, including Tensei, Tenya himself wanted to avenge him so much that he was almost killed by the Hero Killer. However, after Izuku and Shoto arrived to help, Tenya discarded his desire for revenge and was able to hold his own against Stain while working alongside his two classmates.

In said fight, Tenya, with the help of Shoto, was able to take advantage of a new Super Move "Recipro Extend" to help successfully immobilize Stain. After his encounter with the Hero Killer, Tenya is acknowledged as one of the strongest students in Class 1-A, as noted by Pixie-bob.

During Team Training, Tenya, using the advice given to him by his older brother, was able to increase his speed to the point where he is much faster than Gran Torino. With his new speed combined with his fighting style, Tenya was able to overwhelm Juzo Honenuki, a recommended student, and force him to retreat.

Tactical Intellect: Tenya placed second in the intelligence exams, demonstrating his immense academic prowess. Tenya also possesses both strategic and tactical skills. When facing the Hero Killer, Tenya recalled how Shoto had frozen his silencers during their battle at the UA Sports Festival and used it as a battle tactic to further increase his speed to blind Stain.

When paired with Mashirao Ojiro to fight Power Loader in the final exams, Tenya came up with a strategy that involved carrying Mashirao on his back and using "Recipro Burst" to quickly evade the traps Power Loader had set. When it seemed that the Hero was about to defeat them, Tenya quickly thought of another plan, in which Mashirao wrapped his tail around Tenya's leg and Tenya himself used "Recipro Extend" to throw Mashirao into the escape door, while the latter stopped. Quickly securing victory for the two.

Leadership Skills: Tenya is a strong leader, as shown when he was able to calm his panicking classmates during an evacuation that turned into a stampede. Tenya became Class 1-A president after Izuku resigned and gave him the position, believing him to be better suited for the job.

Engine (エンジン Enjin ?): Tenya's Quirk manifests as car engines in each of his calves, granting him super speed and extreme kicking power. His engines have multiple gears, allowing him to shift between at least First, Second, or Third Gear (more are implied) depending on the situation. Much like a real engine, his Quirk requires the exhaust pipes on the back of his legs to remain unobstructed in order to function properly. Tenya needs to fuel his engines by drinking orange juice.

Some time before Team Training, his older brother, Tensei, told him about a secret family method regarding his Quirk. This led Tenya to remove the mufflers on his legs to grow new ones and withstand his training. This showcases his capacity for pain and perseverance. His Reciprocation now lasts 10 minutes, instead of 10 seconds. However, it becomes so fast that it cannot be controlled. Super Moves Engine Boost (エンジンブースト Enjinbūsuto ?): Engine Boost allows Tenya to temporarily increase his speed. This is the only super move that does not have Recipro as a name. Recipro Burst (レシプロバースト Reshipuro Bāsuto ?): This move allows Tenya to forcibly accelerate his Quirk, giving Tenya greatly enhanced speed for 10 seconds at the cost of disabling his engines for a short time afterward. This is the enhanced version of Engine Boost. Recipro Extend (レシプロエクステンド Reshipuro Ekusutendo ?): After Tenya manages to cool down the negative effects of Recipro Burst, he regains even more acceleration than before. Recipro Turbo (レシプロターボ Reshipuro Tābo ?): After removing his mufflers and allowing new ones to grow in their place, Tenya was able to accelerate his Quirk and enhance his speed for 10 minutes. The speed granted by this Super Move is faster than Recipro Burst and Recipro Extend, rivaling even Gra's Jet.
