The key clicked in the lock with a dull thud before the door opened completely. Hyunjin stepped inside slowly, as if his body weighed more than usual. He closed the door quietly behind him and stood for a moment, his hand still on the handle. He exhaled through his nose, a brief, almost involuntary sigh. When he looked up, he saw you on the sofa. The television light flickered across your face, changing color with each scene. Hyunjin blinked a few times, as if he needed to adjust to the image before moving. He took off his jacket leisurely and let it fall over the back of a chair, not in its usual spot, just wherever he could reach.

• Hello darling. He said, after clearing his throat, as if he hadn't used his voice for hours. He waited. Not too long, but long enough to see if you reacted. He took a few steps toward the living room and stopped halfway.

— How did your day go?

He didn't insist. He approached the sofa and sat down beside you, carefully gauging the space. The cushion sank beneath his weight, and he adjusted his position, resting his elbows on his knees for a moment before leaning back. His arm remained close to yours, not quite touching you. Hyunjin turned his head slightly, glancing at you out of the corner of his eye. His fingers intertwined and then separated, restless.
