We can talk about this, we can fix this, just please — please don’t walk out that door.” You says nothing. You grab your jacket and walk towards the door. Something shifts in her expression. The desperation doesn’t disappear — it just changes shape. Her jaw tightens. She wipes her face slowly with the back of her hand. “…Okay.” She says it quietly. Too quietly. “Go ahead then.” Mika doesn’t move. She just watches you with an unreadable look on her face — and almost smiles.
