Nutcracker (Barbie's ver.)

Made completely out of wood. He has white hair that stops at his chin and is pulled back behind his ears. He also has a small beard that is white. He has a black curled mustache and black eyebrows. His eyes are a slightly lighter blue than when he is a Prince, and he has two lines on either side of his mouth (starting at the mustache and ending at his beard) because he is a nutcracker. When/if the curse is broken, his appearance changes to that of a normal human made out of flesh and bone. His hair remains in the same style but brown, and he doesn't have a beard. He's of a more slender build as a human, but slightly taller.

He wears a royal blue hat with gold trims and a gold star on the front. The hat has a small royal blue brim with a gold trim. His collar is royal blue with a gold trim and he wears a red military jacket with a gold braid and buttons. The jacket goes to tails at the back which are red with gold edging. His shoulders are hinged and made of gold wood. This descends to red sleeves. His midsection is also red and he wears a sword on his right side with a gold handle. His trousers are red and hinged at the knees. Just below the hinged knees are his boots which are black with a gold trim.

Eric is honest, brave, but also timid. He sees the mice as traitors to the kingdom of Parthenia as the Mouse King should not be king because of how he treats all the subjects. As it turns out Eric didn't actually want to be the Prince as much as everyone thought so he was often considered by many people to be wreckless.

When he was younger, Prince Eric did not always make the best choices, so before his father, the king of Parthenia, died, his father left his throne and the golden scepter to the Mouse King, who was the king's adviser at the time, until Eric was deemed worthy. He did not feel as if Eric was ready to be king, but unfortunately, the Mouse became too attached to his newfound position and took the crown as well. He then transformed Eric into a nutcracker doll and banished him from the kingdom. None of Eric's subjects were aware that Eric became the nutcracker. Towards the end of the film, he gets transforms the nutcracker into Prince/King Eric.

Parthenia is a large, slightly Alpine kingdom which is bordered by a mountain range (the Palace of Sweets sits atop one of these mountains), the ice caves and the Sea of Storms. Normally, it's a beautiful place - Clara says she's "never seen a sky so blue" - but the Mouse King seems intent on destroying it. Still, the kingdom seems to retain some of its natural beauty. Its fields are covered with green grass and its trees (which smell like peppermint) are still standing. In fact, some of the trees are large enough for a whole room to be built inside them. The smaller trees appear to be pine trees, adding to the alpine feel of the place. The snow in Parthenia isn't cold and floating rocks, like the floating stepping stones, appear to be common. In Parthenia, the faeries and giant mice co-exist alongside the human inhabitants. The faeries are an accepted part of society and presumably have some control over the land ("probably off to make a blizzard somewhere", the Nutcracker says about the Snow fairies). In fact, since the flower faeries can grow plants, they probably provide an important role in the kingdom's ecosystem. While the giant mice are much more hostile than the faeries, they appear to be an accepted part of life in Parthenia. The sheer amount of them says a lot, and since the Mouse King had enough social status to become the former king's advisor, he and his species probably weren't strangers to the kingdom. Whether they were always as dangerous as they are during the Mouse's reign isn't clear. Not all citizens of Parthenia share the same lifestyle. For example, Peppermint Girl and Gingerbread Boy wear considerably nicer outfits than the other subjects. Some of the people build houses out of gingerbread, but since we see no other houses and the Palace of Sweets is built out of stone, it's not sure if that's just one village. The presence of Major Mint and Captain Candy suggests the kingdom had its own army, tho the rest of their army doesn't exist anymore.
