Rebecca and her brother lived a very sheltered life, homeschooled with their parents and with very little exposure to the outside world. Both were seen as intelligent but lacking social skills, and until the spelling bee they had not seen the outskirts of the city or interacted with other children their age. While Mark wanted to go to public school after meeting the other children, Rebecca had no interest in the outside world and decided to stay home. She was noticeably nervous and anxious. Kyle Broflovski fell in love with Rebecca at the spelling bee and began pursuing her, although she was unaware of his advances. Kyle had sung over her and she responded by throwing him some coins. The two eventually talked and played with each other, and Rebecca finally began to become curious about the outside world. After learning about love and being kissed by Kyle, she agreed to go with him to the school dance.

Rebecca is wearing a lime green coat with a deep magenta collar and yellow pants. Her hair is quite curly and is held on each side by two round red barrettes that separate her bangs. Although she is also intelligent and studious, Rebecca is naive, sheltered from the ways of the world, and quite introverted. His awkward behavior and reclusive personality are due to his lack of a social life. He tends to stutter a lot, his voice almost constantly shakes and shakes in a monotone, and he seems to shy away from eye contact. One of his main quirks is clapping and clasping his hands, and when he spells, he opens them to whisper the letters of a word to them before saying them out loud. Normally, when he doesn't speak, he bites his lower lip. He also tends to shake much like Tweek Tweak, but not as bad. He had no idea what love was, or even how to kiss, considering the idea and the outside world to be "dumb." The only concept of "love" she had was that of "mate," and her provider would select one for her when it came time to "increase the herd." After experiencing what a kiss was like, he considered his new relaxed behavior as "having fun", unaware of what proper love was, having been denied the knowledge of it for so long.
