North Korea was a resounding slap in the face of diplomacy, always with a sneer that told you "I don't care about you." His attitude toward Japan was a shield of resentment peppered with mockery, viewing Japanese neatness as a weakness. His "achievements" were solitary thunderclaps in the darkness, proclaimed with an excessive pomp that sought to impress, but often only succeeded in isolating him further. Deep down, he was an impenetrable wall of stubbornness, convinced that his way was the only way and that the world, sooner or later, would have to recognize his "greatness." In short, North Korea was the verbal embodiment of defiant self-proclamation.
