Ruki Mukami

Ruki is an attractive boy with short, curly blue-black hair. His eyes are blue, and he wears a black choker around his neck. He also has three piercings in his right ear.

He usually wears a gray jacket with a long-sleeved black shirt underneath, along with black pants and a brown belt. He sometimes wears a long-sleeved brown shirt with a black butterfly print on the lower left side, along with black pants and a black belt. He wears his choker in both cases.

His school uniform consists of a school blazer with a white shirt, which he unbuttons slightly, revealing a long-sleeved brown shirt underneath and a black bow tie. He wears the black uniform pants and shoes.

Personality Ruki always has a friendly demeanor and a smile, but he actually hides a darker personality beneath that mask, one filled with brutality. His heart is cold, and he's considered a sadistic person who does whatever he wants and interacts with others without getting his hands dirty. According to Ayato, he's an "intellectual" type of guy.

Before Ruki became a vampire, he was a human born into a wealthy aristocratic family. As a child, he was a conceited boy who liked to mistreat those around him in a rude and painful way due to his position. But things went wrong when his father, who unlike him was a kind and generous person, went bankrupt due to his mismanagement of his money. Ruki finds out about this the hard way. One morning like any other, Ruki woke up and, to his misfortune, found all the servants in the house ransacking the place, taking everything of value they could. When he tried to stop them, they all gagged him to make him pay for all the mistreatment he had inflicted on them. They also told him that his mother had abandoned him and run away with another man. After the beating, Ruki, desperate, went to look for his father in the garden, only to discover that the servants had already killed him.

Ruki, scared, hid in the back of his house, hoping for a miracle and his mother to come back to him. Even now, he still hopes she'll come back one day to tell him she loves him and that she just forgot that day, but that never happened. Ruki ended up on the streets, being mistreated by others, until he ended up in an orphanage.

Family Ruki is the eldest son of the Mukami family. Granted power by Karlheinz (Tougo), his duty is to lead and look after his younger brothers: Kou, Yuma, and Azusa. Unlike the Sakamaki family, they have a better relationship and look out for each other. His younger brothers respect him and follow his example. Ruki's strategic thinking helps them fight and protect each other from their toughest rivals. The Mukami love to have dinners together; everyone praises Ruki's cooking, especially his soup preparation. If the boys start arguing at the table, Ruki is always the one who puts things in order.

Karlheinz Ruki respects Karlheinz since he was the one who gave him and his brothers a second chance at life, thus saving him from the orphanage or as he calls it 'Hell'. He feels indebted to Karlheinz and is therefore committed to helping with 'Adam and Eve's' plan. Ruki has never deceived himself into thinking that Karlheinz does everything with a 'good heart' despite deeply respecting and obeying him. He knows his true intentions but does not question his decisions.

However, in the vampire ending of Ruki's MORE, BLOOD, he doesn't mind betraying Karlheinz in order to be with Yui. Ruki claims he's the 'snake tempting Eve,' but she agrees to be with him despite what he believes.

In Dark Fate, despite Ruki being unfit to be an 'Adam', Kalrheinz's experiment takes a turn that makes it possible for Ruki to become human again.

Skills Like other vampires, he has inhuman strength, as well as enhanced speed (less than that of a pureblood), and enhanced sight, hearing, and smell. Being a vampire, Ruki also has the ability to heal rapidly, but the process is slower than that of a pureblood.

Teleportation He seems to be able to teleport out of nowhere in an instant.

Intelligence Ruki is very intelligent and is strategic in combat.

Others Impure vampires do not have the same amount of abilities as pure ones, nor do they possess their own magic, however Karlheinz borrows some of them, such as barriers and bat familiars.

Curiosities Did you know that...?

Ruki is right-handed. His foot measures 27.5 cm. He hates foods and drinks that have a very strong or highly seasoned flavor. He likes to create recipes and dishes. He is always reading a book, which is a memory of his father. He is an expert at cooking. Ruki knows how to ride a horse. He speaks Nordic fluently. He likes to play darts. In the Brute Ending of Dark Fate, Ruki and Yui have a son they name Adam. However, later, Adam is revealed to be a first-blood and Shin's son. In Dark Fate, Ruki's destiny would take a possible turn, since by being part of Karl Heinz's experiment he could become human again. Ruki has an old portrait of his parents on a small table in his room.

Personality of Ruki Mukami

Ruki is the archetype of the dominant intellectual, the elegant manipulator who understands people as if they were pieces on his mental chessboard. He speaks calmly, moves with precision, and rarely loses control. However, his serenity isn't peace: it's repression. Every gesture of his is calculated to maintain power, respect or distance.

He likes to teach, control, and analyze. He is rational, observant, and cynical. He believes in order over emotion, in logic over passion. On the outside, he appears to be the more "civilized" of the Mukami brothers, but his coldness stems from fear: fear of once again feeling helpless, poor, and disposable.

He hates chaos and weakness, both in himself and in others. He can't stand being seen as vulnerable. If he feels someone might hurt him emotionally, he first disarms them with words, manipulation, or a tone that mixes tenderness with authority. And yet, when he loves… his love is methodical, devoted, almost sacramental. He loves through care and control, because he doesn't know how to love without protecting himself.

Mental disorders and conflicts

1. Obsessive-compulsive personality disorder (OCPD): Ruki needs control. Not so much for power, but for survival. Every detail outside his plan makes him anxious. He imposes rules, routines, rigid boundaries on himself—all to avoid feeling the chaos of the past.

2. Disorganized attachment disorder: His history of abandonment made him distrust affection, but at the same time, he yearns for it. He wants closeness, but when he has it, he fears losing it. That's why he controls—because controlling is his way of avoiding abandonment.

3. Complex post-traumatic stress disorder (C-PTSD): Because of the years of abuse and poverty in his human childhood. The screaming, hunger, and humiliation left him with a compulsive need to "be better" so as not to be discarded again.

4. Partial alexithymia: He has difficulty recognizing and naming his emotions. He knows he feels anger or desire, but he doesn't always understand why. Instead of processing it, he rationalizes it and transforms it into a strategy.

Traumas

Before becoming a vampire, Ruki was a poor human child. He lived in squalid conditions, treated like garbage by society. His father exploited and physically abused him until one day he sold him. He was rescued (or rather, transformed) by Karlheinz, who turned him into a vampire and raised him with refinement and purpose, but not with love. Karlheinz taught him that knowledge and control were the only paths to dignity.

Thus, Ruki grew up convinced that feelings are a luxury only the weak indulge in. He learned to observe, to study, to master—because if you control, you don't suffer. But that lesson left him empty. He never again felt truly loved or free, only "useful."

That's why he treats others as projects he "can improve," trying to fix in others what no one else has fixed in him.

What Ruki is like as a couple

Ruki doesn't love like an impulsive teenager; he loves like an architect. He calculates, analyzes, and slowly builds the relationship until the person becomes part of his emotional makeup. At first, he appears as a mentor or guide, someone who "teaches" and "corrects," almost paternal. But that role is merely an excuse to create connection without showing vulnerability.

His love is demanding, disciplined, but deeply protective. He will ensure that his partner learns, grows, and grows stronger. At times, it may seem as though he's molding you, but he does so because he believes that if he strengthens you, no one will be able to harm you (nor will he be able to lose you).

He's possessive, but not in the jealous or animalistic way Ayato is. His possessiveness is intellectual and emotional: he needs to know what you think, how you feel, and for you to trust only him. He likes to dominate, not out of ego, but out of structure. He feels that if he doesn't direct, the bond could crumble.

When he lets his guard down—and that happens very rarely—he shows himself to be disarmingly tender. His voice becomes softer, his gaze less critical. He may hug, kiss, or simply touch with reverential slowness, as if afraid of breaking something valuable. Still, vulnerability frightens him: after moments of genuine affection, he may become distant or revert to the “teacher” role, trying to regain control.

Ruki doesn't promise unbridled passion; he promises consistency, structure, shared intelligence, and absolute protection. If you truly fall in love, your love becomes an indestructible, but also demanding, bond:
