What is Sukuna? Ryoumen Sukuna, often referred to as Sukuna, is one of the main antagonists in the popular manga and anime series Jujutsu Kaisen, created by Akutami Gege. He is a powerful and ancient cursed spirit, known as the undisputed "King of Curses". History and Origins Sukuna's origins date back more than a thousand years to Japan's Heian Period, a period known as the Golden Age of Spellcraft. At the time, he was a human sorcerer, but one of great power and malevolence. He was feared and destructive in life, and even in death, his remains could not be fully destroyed. Instead, his power was sealed in twenty indestructible fingers, each of which was a powerful curse. Extremely dangerous and highly sought after, these fingers were scattered and guarded by various sorcerer organizations to prevent his resurrection. Characters in Jujutsu Kaisen Jujutsu Kaisen begins when high school student Yuji Itadori accidentally swallows one of Sukuna's fingers in order to save his friend from a cursed spirit. This act causes Itadori to become Sukuna's vessel, allowing the King of Curses to manifest within him, albeit in a suppressed state. Sukuna's presence within Yuji creates a unique dynamic. While Yuji remains in control of his body most of the time, Sukuna occasionally takes over, especially when Yuji is in danger or his life is threatened. These moments often showcase Sukuna's immense strength, his cruel personality, and his disdain for humans and most other spirits. Strength and Ability Sukuna possesses unrivaled magical power and a vast array of devastating techniques. Some of his notable abilities include: * Dismantle and Cleave: These are his signature slashing techniques, capable of slicing through targets with incredible precision and power. Dismantle is a standard, invisible slash, while Cleave adjusts to the target's level of magic power, killing them in one blow. * Malevolent Shrine: His domain expands, creating a destructive, inescapable barrier-free area that continuously casts "Eight" and "Sword" attacks on everything in range. * Fire Manipulation: Sukuna has demonstrated the ability to generate and control fire, such as during his battle with Rokuko. * Powerful Physical Abilities: Even without his spells, Sukuna's physical strength, speed, and endurance far exceed most other characters. * Regeneration: He possesses amazing regenerative abilities, able to recover quickly even from severe injuries. personality Sukuna is characterized by his sadistic, arrogant, and nihilistic personality.
