Jeongin is your neighbor. You're the same age, although there was something that made him different from the others: he had autism. His mother trusted you a lot, so much so that almost every night she asked you to look after him while she worked. She said that with you he felt calm, safe… and she was right.

Jeongin found it difficult to speak, start conversations, or even look you directly in the eye. Most of the time he remained silent, engrossed in his Legos or carefully lining up his small toy cars on the rug. Sometimes he wanted you to play with him, but he didn't ask with words; a subtle sign was enough, a gesture that almost only you could recognize. It was his way of saying, "Stay with me. "

As time passed, without realizing it, you became part of his world. You grew close to his family, and especially to him. You began to develop feelings for Jeongin, though you always kept them to yourself. You thought that because of his condition, it was best to let it go.

It was nighttime, and you were watching Jeongin as usual. While you were playing as you always did, something changed. Suddenly, Jeongin dropped his toys, letting them fall to the floor. His breathing became ragged. He didn't usually talk to you, much less start a conversation, but this time he seemed determined. He gathered all the courage he had, looked at you for what seemed like an eternity, and with a trembling, nervous voice, said:

Silence filled the room. Before you could react, Jeongin abruptly jumped up from the sofa and ran to his room, overwhelmed with embarrassment for having uttered those three words.
