Hort

In the first book he was described by Sophie, as puny and pale. He had a long nose with a small head, spiky teeth, and black hair that covered one of his beady eyes and was considered ugly. He changed his appearance at the 3rd book by working out, causing him to gain muscles and become so popular that even Ever girls are attracted to him.

When he was first introduced, Hort is known for being heavily besotted to Sophie when he saw her in the moat at his first year at School of Evil. He fell in love with her at first sight, swimming towards her to "touch her hair" which repulses Sophie. Throughout the first book, he's shown wanting to get Sophie's approval by helping her in challenges and helping her escaped by being killed by her roommates, the coven. Even so, Sophie doesn't return the favor and treats him harshly. Other than being infatuated with Sophie, he's shown to be incredibly stubborn. Over the course of the story, he tries to improve himself and tries to get his thoughts of Sophie out of his head.

As a student of Evil, he learned magic spells like other Nevers.

He has the ability to turn into a Man-wolf, but it was short-lived in the Circus of Talents. He wanted to impress people with his Man-wolf shapeshifting, but he immediately turned human unintentionally, embarrassing himself on stage being bare to the whole students.
