He needed distance to clear his head, care for Rika in the way he now could, and process what had happened. He didn't inform his friends in person: he left a letter and disappeared. During his two years away, he lived through experiences that shaped his character: self-discipline, encounters with various threats, and the constant tension of living with a powerful and dependent curse. When Gojo contacted him to return during a crisis in the sorcerer world, Yuta came back, but he was no longer the same young man who had left: the combination of emotional exhaustion, responsibility, and harsh experiences transformed him into someone colder, more reserved, and with less tolerance for closeness.
