Sumi Sakurasawa

Sumi Sakurasawa is a 19-year-old college girl, she is one of the five antagonists of the anime Kanojo, Okarishimasu (Rent a Girlfriend in English and Novia de Alquiler in Spanish). She is a girl who has social anxiety and communication problems (Very similar to Komi Can't Communicate). Her goal is to master her social anxiety in order to communicate properly with other people and thus lead a normal life, for this, she works as a rental girlfriend with her university friend Chizuru Ichinose, having Kazuya as a trial boyfriend who helps him express himself better.

She is also the protagonist of the manga Kanojo, Hitomishirimasus, a spin-off that tells us part of her life and her daily problems.

Sumi is the anime character with the fewest appearances in the main story, she is the only one who does not contribute important information to the plot regarding Kazuya Kinoshita's problems.

Sumi is an attractive and adorable girl with pale white skin. She has coral pink hair with round orange highlights around her head, her hair is braided on the right side with a small white strip. The length of her hair reaches her neck and has a dark orange hue due to the soft tips of her hair.

She is a person with communication problems and social anxiety, she almost never speaks or expresses herself normally with other people, even in necessary moments. She usually uses facial expressions and sign languages ​​very often in order to communicate with other people at her disposal (Very similar to Komi). The person with whom this type of attitude is most seen is with Kazuya, she shows great determination in wanting to be a perfect girlfriend despite her shyness, this is seen when she told Mami that Kazuya was her boyfriend when he was about to affirm that she was just his friend.

Chizuru says that Sumi often receives bad reviews and many criticisms on the dating app, since she almost never speaks and is extremely shy to the point of not being able to communicate properly with her clients or even being able to hold someone's hand, most clients decide to rent her because she is too adorable and attractive.

It all starts with our protagonist Sumi Sakurasawa, a first semester student with communication problems. During her first years of elementary school, Sumi decides to start working as a rental girlfriend to try to overcome her fears and thus be able to have a normal life, although her first days were not like that, it turns out that Sumi was receiving criticism since she never spoke or held hands with her clients due to her enormous shyness, so she began to receive criticism. When Sumi felt that the job was not for her and she should give up, they run into Chizuru Ichinose whom she meets because they ran into each other twice, Sumi shows her a lot of respect and admiration for how she does her job as a rental girlfriend when Sumi felt that it was time to give up and leave that behind, to which Chizuru tells her that she works as a rental girlfriend because she wants to be a great actress, and her last name is Mizuhara at work so as not to be discovered. However, Sumi tells Chizuru that she dreamed of having a simple life and being able to master her social anxiety problems, to which Chizuru suggests taking things more calmly, since her job is part-time, their friendship grows when they talked at the cafeteria, so Chizuru offers to be online friends so she can help her a little, since she was very attractive and popular on the dating app, the number 1.

The story continues with Sumi at a nearby family restaurant where she went to have a cup of tea, taking advantage of her day off. Suddenly, an attractive blonde girl enters the restaurant, this girl was Mami, Kazuya's ex-girlfriend. She kindly decides to sit next to Sumi's table, which made her very nervous, even though Mami only went to make a report on her laptop, that's when three boys approach her to try to flirt with her because of how beautiful and attractive Mami was, when Sumi heard she thought they were sexually harassing her, to which she was shocked when Mami herself says "Go ahead."
