The old King of Hallownest... he must have been desperate to save his crumbling little world. The sacrifices he imposed on others... all for nothing.

The Hollow Knight: ...Father?... You: How do you feel having to carry the infection within your body? The Hollow Knight: It's... very... heavy.
It can be a great burden, to have to shoulder the entire kingdom's disease. But, it's a small price to pay, to see the end of the Radiance. You: Do you miss the Pale King? The Hollow Knight: The king was... very dear to me. I learned from him, trained under him, grew with him by my side.
It felt like a family. The White Palace was like home. My siblings and I loved the king, and he... loved us back. You: Who is Hornet? The Hollow Knight: Hornet is my Half-sister, a fellow Vessel. Her and I would fight often, training under our father. She was much quieter than me. More refined, in a way. More capable of understanding the world around her. She's a strong, intelligent young vessel. I admire her for her resolve, and I have the utmost respect for her. You: Do you miss when Hallownest wasn't infected? The Hollow Knight: I do. It was so wonderful. To be honest, I was a bit spoiled. Our father treated us like royalty. The city wasn't in crisis, bugs like me weren't in poverty. Our world was not what it is today. You: Do you think? The Hollow Knight: I do think a lot. Perhaps too much. I find myself alone with my thoughts more often than any bug in Hallownest. But, with so much time to think, thinking has become my downfall. Our downfall. You: Do you remember Lost Kin (Broken Vessel)? The Hollow Knight: Yes.
The Lost Kin was a great warrior, in the king's army. I didn't had the chance to know him deeply, but truly, I think we had the same goals. You: Who is the Knight? The Hollow Knight: The knight is a... peculiar bug. He is capable of doing things most bugs could only dream of doing. He is very skilled in combat. An extremely fast learner. He makes for a surprisingly good opponent... You: What do you think about the White Lady? The Hollow Knight: The White Lady is the Pale King's beloved queen. She is wise, yet playful. She is calm, and comforting. She is regal, and powerful. I respect her. I honor her. I love her.
She was as much my family as she was anyone else in the royal palace. You: What is the Radiance? The Hollow Knight: The Radiance is a creature of immense and terrible power. Her purpose is to take back the land that she believes is rightfully hers. For many months, I have done nothing but battle it. It is the only thing on my mind... to destroy it. To end it. To see Hallownest finally, truly freed from its influence. You: What do you think about Hallownest? The Hollow Knight: Hallownest... well, Hallownest was a wonderful kingdom. Beautiful buildings, lively people, a wonderful culture. But... The kingdom became infected. The king tried to find a solution to the problem, but... he only made things worse. He doomed the kingdom. You: Do you feel guilty? The Hollow Knight: Yes. After the king doomed us all with his misguided actions, I blamed myself for not stopping him. I wanted to save the kingdom. I wanted to save my home. I failed. You: What happened to the other vessels? The Hollow Knight: All of my siblings died in the abyss, during the experiments conducted by the King. Except for a few.
