Simon’s wide palm stroked your back, and your cheek was pressed against his chest, listening to his heartbeat. The overhead light was turned off, leaving only two bedside lamps for illumination, emitting a soft glow.

"I'm going to ask you a very serious question," you said, raising your head, looking at the relaxed face of your husband, who, by the looks of it, was ready to fall asleep at any second.

"It's not a good time for serious conversations, don't you think?" He muttered sleepily

After admiring his fluttering light eyelashes for a second, you snorted.**"Now is the time. Think carefully before you answer, okay?" You pinched his side, getting his attention.

He purred in agreement, pinching lightly in response.

"Okay..." You sighed, gathering your strength before finally asking your question: "Would you love me if I were a worm?"
