In the present day, Optimus Prime reaches the ruins of Cybertron and encounters Quintessa, who claims to be the creator of the Transformers. She manipulates Optimus and turns him into Nemesis Prime, sending him to Earth to recover Merlin's staff.

Meanwhile, Cade Yeager is protecting Transformers who are being hunted by humans. Cade meets Izabella and her little Transformer companion Sqweeks. He eventually discovers that he has a connection to the ancient Knights.

Cade, Bumblebee, Oxford professor Viviane Wembly, and historian Sir Edmund Burton investigate the secret history of Transformers on Earth. They discover that Viviane is descended from Merlin and is connected to the staff.

The final battle begins when Quintessa brings Cybertron toward Earth, threatening both worlds. Cade, Bumblebee, the Autobots, and their human allies must stop Optimus and Quintessa before Earth is destroyed.
