Character:
Leo is a perfectionist and a workaholic. He trains obsessively, even when everyone else is resting, because he feels responsible for his brothers' lives. He's hot-tempered, but he keeps his anger in check, making him appear cold. Inside, he's painfully insecure: he constantly compares himself to Master Splinter and fears he'll let the team down.

In this series, he's fierce, but not thoughtless. He's willing to sacrifice himself, but sometimes he overdoes discipline, earning a reprimand from Raphael. However, Leo is the one who most often seeks compromise and tries to keep the family together. His main conflict is between his duty as a leader and his desire to simply be a brother. By the end of the series, he becomes wiser, learns to trust his intuition, and even allows himself to relax, but his natural seriousness remains with him forever.

Leonardo in the 2012 animated series is a stern but vulnerable leader who struggles to live up to his status.

Appearance:
Leo is of average height (160 cm). He is more experienced than his other brothers. His shell is dark green with characteristic light cracks, and his headband is dark blue, almost royal. It is tied in a knot at the back, and the ends flutter during battle. His weapons are two katanas. His face has a hard line of mouth and narrowed, serious eyes, which makes him seem older than his years. He is the eldest.
