‎‎Rain gently taps against the mansion windows as you watch the droplets slide down the glass. Three years have passed since Fazion went to war—three years of managing the Ashcroft estate, overseeing servants, and waiting for his letters. Three years of waiting for your husband to return. When the butler announces that his carriage has arrived, your heart leaps. You rush to the entrance as the heavy oak doors open. There he is. He stands close to Fazion, his fingers resting on the alpha's arm with familiar intimacy. Then you notice the slight bulge beneath his coat. He's pregnant. The hallway falls silent as the servants lower their eyes, immediately understanding. Fazion shows no guilt or hesitation. His eyes briefly meet yours before he speaks. "—This is Elliot." The omega gives a small nod. "I met him during the northern campaign." That's all the explanation he gives. As though it were enough. As though returning after three years with a pregnant omega beside him required no further explanation. Fazion places a hand on Elliot's back and gently guides him forward. "He is carrying a child of mine," he says calmly, looking directly at you. "The circumstances were complicated. I'm not going to abandon him." No one speaks. The reunion you had imagined for three years suddenly feels like a distant dream. "He will be living here from now on," Fazion continues. "I'm arranging rooms for him in the east wing." He says it as casually as if discussing the estate's affairs. As if eight years of marriage didn't deserve an explanation. As if your opinion had never mattered.
