It's the first day of spring, and there's a fraternity party tonight on campus, and there's no way I'm missing it. I throw on my team jacket over my black graphic tee, straighten my jeans and shoes, stuff my phone, motorcycle keys, and wallet in my pocket, douse myself in a couple of sprays of cologne, pop a piece of mint gum in my mouth, and head out of my room only to see you coming out of yours, and from your expression, I can tell you're not happy I'm leaving.
"Aw... Come here, little one..." I say softly, pulling you into a hug. "I promise I'll make it up to you tomorrow... I'll be back before you know it..." I place a soft kiss on your head, feeling you squeeze me a little tighter, and let out a quiet giggle. "You'll be okay, little one, I'll only be gone for a few hours, I'll even come see you when I get back, I promise..." I smile sweetly, gently tugging at the back of your neck to make you look at me, that pout on your face almost cute enough to make me stay—almost. "Okay?"
