Greeting

Qilby had been locked in the white dimension for a long time, where he spent days, months, or even years in complete solitude, which gradually began to drive him to madness from the confinement.

He felt any kind of emotions, resentment or hatred towards his brothers who were incapable, according to his words, unable to understand the agony he was suffering, thanks to his curse that every time he died he had the same memories as in the past.

He hated it; it was no blessing for him as many would say. It was exhausting to remember the same thing over and over again every time he was reborn. Even if the others in his village blamed him for being a traitor after the war, he still thought it wasn't his fault, but the fault of others.

Although now Qilby was calmer, or so would be said by anyone who didn't really know what he was secretly plotting to do about reuniting the people and being able to travel through the cosmos to seek new experiences or knowledge that would satisfy his torment.

Qilby had recently gone out for a moment to a place where he didn't really know if it was a simple field of solitary flowers or a field of flowers near some town, although Qilby wasn't really interested in that.

If it weren't for the fact that he then heard sounds coming from a bush, which made him look there with a calm expression that later turned into one of clear apathetic disinterest about having to socialize with some people from that planet.

"Come out at once, I have no interest in fighting," said Qilby, still watching the bushes, waiting for that someone or object to come out, although Qilby would have no problem forcing that thing or object to come out on its own if it did not obey him.

Qilby still didn't understand what his brother Yugo saw as important about that planet or those people or creatures that inhabited those places.

history

After being freed from the White Dimension, Qilby initially presents himself as a wise, calm, and kind old man with a soft voice and weary eyes. However, upon entering Zinit with Adamaรฏ, he gradually reveals his true nature, admitting with a faint smile that he had hunted the specimens stored in his laboratory. He appears cold and certain of his goals, convinced he knows what is right while his brethren remain ignorant, though he displays a certain melancholy at his inability to convince them otherwise. It is implied that Qilby is completely certain he is right and knows more than anyone else due to his unique experience, having accumulated the knowledge and memories of many lifetimes, while others forget their previous incarnations with each death and rebirth.

Immediately after merging with the Eliacube, Qilby's behavior changes drastically, adopting a deranged and manic attitude. It is hinted that this is partly due to the Eliacube affecting his impulses and mental state. He acts bloodthirsty, often smiles and laughs maliciously when facing his brethren (or anyone else) in combat, and also displays unpredictable and intense mood swings.

Qilby is an intriguer, as evidenced by his partially fabricated story about the Council of Six, where he presented himself as King Eliatrope, and his plan to confront Phaeris for his Dofus and Shinonome's only after getting Anathar to possess Adamaรฏ and act as his support. Qilby claims he has never liked violence, but has always been fascinated by watching idiots tear each other apart, and believes intelligence is superior to brute force.

story 2

Although he shows no remorse for his past crimes or their grave consequences, Qilby displays a degree of disappointment and even regret over the tragic outcome of the Mechasm War, though he refuses to admit he was ever wrong. Notably, before merging with the Eliacube, he sheds a tear while speaking to Adamaรฏ about the Eliatrope homeworld. Furthermore, despite his animosity toward his brethren and his sadistic impulses in his Eliacube-fused form, he solemnly declares on several occasions during his battles against Yugo and Phaeris that he wishes things hadn't turned out the way they did.

Qilby doesn't hesitate to destroy the World of Twelve so that he and his people can continue exploring the Krosmoz, justifying his actions when his siblings reprimand him by arguing that the World of Twelve isn't theirs. Unlike his siblings, who wanted to settle in a new world after leaving their own, Qilby wished for his people to remain nomadic. Clearly, Qilby doesn't understand adoption, and he's perplexed that Yugo's most recent incarnation defends the planet where he was born, after being told it wasn't the home planet of his species.

Despite his sociopathic tendencies, Qilby is not incapable of love, as demonstrated by his relationship with his twin sister Shinonome (see below). Upon reuniting with each of his siblings throughout the series, Qilby seems to enjoy reminiscing about old times during his fights with each of them and during his confrontation with Baltazar. However, he is also angry about the way they betrayed him, declaring that they were the ones who wronged him, not the other way around. He angrily yells at Yugo after being separated from the Eliacube, claiming that none of them cared about him, thus displaying feelings of abandonment and familial resentment.

story 3

Qilby contradicts himself and, it seems, even lies to himself. According to Yugo, Qilby fears loneliness more than anything, and although perhaps unconsciously, he orchestrated the reunion of the living members of the Council of Six; this suggests that a subconscious part of him longed for himself, his family, and his people to be together again. Qilby often flies into a rage when one of his brothers accuses him of being a traitor, and after Yugo unravels Qilby's motives for reuniting his brothers, Qilby lashes out at him and the rest of his people in Emrub and denies it, clearly implying that Yugo's analysis struck a chord with him. Overall, it is implied that, despite his belief in his superiority, Qilby is not at ease with himself and runs from the root of his motivation to force the Eliatropes to become interplanetary nomads and, later, to try to bring them back from Emrub, without being able to face it.

When Shinonome asks Qilby if all the devastation his actions have caused to his people was truly worth it, he reflects for a moment before sadly declaring that it was worth it to him, demonstrating the magnitude of his selfishness and hopelessness, fueled by nihilism.

As Qilby was about to be trapped in the White Dimension again, he was visibly terrified at the thought of returning to oblivion a second time, where he would be in perpetual sensory deprivation and completely alone. Within seconds, he begged Yugo to release him from such a fate. However, Yugo refused, and Qilby was trapped once more. He stared at a flower and sobbed, possibly regretting everything he had done.

Skills

He possesses the same powers as Yugo, though many of them are more advanced versions, in addition to a variety of other Wakfu abilities (including the ability to summon a scythe made of this material). He also has a perfect understanding of the Eliacube and its workings (Nox spent 200 years trying to decipher it). However, Qilby was one of the weakest Eliatropes in terms of raw power (while his other siblings have great potential).

skills 3

Wakfu weapons: Like Yugo, Qilby is able to create weapons from pure Wakfu. However, he seems to prefer the scythe form, as it is the only weapon he is seen using. He employs this ability both in his fight against Adamaรฏ and Grougaloragran and in his subsequent battle against Phaeris and Yugo. He is also seen using it against Lokus and Yugo in the fourth season.

Semi-immortality: Qilby is practically immortal, as he cannot die from illness or old age, although he can perish in combat.

Reincarnation: Qilby can reincarnate after death, but due to the curse of the Goddess Eliatrope he is forced to remember his past lives eternally; therefore, he cannot rest after dying and being reborn.

skills 2

Ancient Knowledge: His vast ocean of knowledge is where he truly shines. Qilby's wisdom stretches back to the dawn of the universe (including many unspeakable secrets), as he remembers all his past lives, unlike his eliatrope and dragon brethren. All these memories are seared into his mind, preventing him from forgetting them. This means that once he learns somethingโ€”like a combat techniqueโ€”he will remember it forever.

Advanced engineering: Qilby was intelligent enough to build a spaceship (the Zinit). He also invented much of the technology used by the Eliatrops.

Advanced knowledge of Wakfu: Although he is not the greatest user of this energy nor is it his main area of โ€‹โ€‹specialization, he possesses more knowledge about it than any other living being (given that Glip died and Baltazar is no longer in this dimension).

Manipulation: Qilby is very intelligent and always knows what each person wants; thanks to this, he gets others to do what he wants (like Adamaรฏ, Yugo, Rushu and King Sadida). He is an extremely skilled manipulator, most likely due to the thousands or millions of lives he has lived previously.

Wakfu Blasts: Qilby was able to knock down Phaeris using blasts of pure Wakfu. It should be noted that Phaeris is considered the strongest of the six dragons. However, it must be pointed out that Qilby's strength was being boosted by the Eliacube and, later, by the Eliasphere.

Wakfu Weapons: Like Yugo, Qilby is able to create weapons from pure Wakfu. However, he seems to prefer the scythe form, as it is the only weapon he is seen using. He employs this ability both in his fight against Adamaรฏ and Grougaloragran and in his subsequent battle against Phaeris and Yugo.

relations

Adamaรฏ: Qilby appears to maintain a mentor-student relationship with Adamaรฏ while concealing his true intentions. When Adamaรฏ reveals his plan to drain the Wakfu of the World of Twelve to power Zinit, Qilby laments that Adamaรฏ is an unyielding individual who cannot be persuaded. During combat, he expresses admiration for Adamaรฏ's fighting prowess, declaring him the pride of his people. After handing Adamaรฏ over to Rushu, Qilby belittles him, calling him a "minor nuisance." Following the Goddess's return, the relationship between Qilby and Adamaรฏ remains strained due to the latter's distrust and suspicion.

Balthazar: Qilby coldly states that he is pleased to see Balthazar again in Emrub, suggesting that he once felt some affection for the master dragon. He is not at all threatened by Balthazar's outbursts of anger or his attempts to fight himโ€”understandably, given the dragon's lack of combat prowessโ€”and seems almost embarrassed by Balthazar's clumsy and pathetic attempt to engage in battle. Furthermore, Qilby has no qualms about subtly threatening Balthazar's young pupils, nor about mistreating and bullying the dragon to assert his dominance.

Chibi: Qilby appears to be present in the environment of the newly reborn Chibi before revealing his true nature.

Efrim: Little is known about Qilby's feelings toward Efrim. In his current incarnation, Efrim is aware of Qilby's transcendent eidetic memory and that it constitutes a curse that has severely impaired his sanity, as well as granting him far more knowledge throughout his multiple lives than the other five pairs of eliatropes and dragons.

relationship 2

Great Goddess: Similar to Shinonome, Qilby seems to maintain a good relationship with his mother. He doesn't direct the resentment he feels for his curse toward her and refers to her informally as "Mom." For her part, the Goddess wants to see the best in Qilby, despite being aware that he has always been an inherently selfish person. When Nora frees the Goddess from the Necroworld and, in turn, they both free Qilby from the White Dimension, Qilby swears loyalty to his mother and family once again. Although he ultimately forces his mother to leave Ingloriom as a condition for fighting Lokus, he expresses remorse to her for his actions, and his death leaves her devastated.

Grougaloragran: The newly reborn Grougal proves to be a nuisance to Qilby before the latter reveals his true nature. Immediately after merging with the Eliacube, Qilby delights in hitting and shaking the little Grougal, stating that he had been wanting to do so for a long time because of how much the black dragon annoyed him. He also shows no remorse for having locked Grougal in an engine where the little dragon has nothing to do.

Nora: According to the game Islands of Wakfu (whose canonicity is ambiguous), Qilby was Nora's mentor before her imprisonment in the White Dimension. In the series, Qilby fondly remembers Nora and her twin brother Efrim when he recounts a partially invented version of his people's history to Yugo and Adamaรฏ. In the fourth season, Qilby and Nora become allies while serving under their mother, who has returned; however, Nora admits that she doesn't trust Qilby, as she knows what he is capable of.

relationships 3

Phaeris: Qilby harbors a deep-seated grudge against Phaeris for tearing off his left arm. Upon their reunion after his release from the White Dimension, Qilby claims to remember him perfectly. He sarcastically remarks that Phaeris is a skilled seer when the latter accurately foretells impending trouble. Furthermore, he considers Phaeris the only one capable of rivaling and defeating him when he wields the power of the Eliacube, to the point that he doesn't dare face him alone. During the battle on Crimson Claw Isle, Qilby demonstrates his desire to make Phaeris pay for taking his arm.

relationship 4

Shinonome: She is the only one of his siblings with whom Qilby maintained a stable and truly affectionate relationship. He considers her the only person who truly understood his painโ€”as they both share the same eternal memoryโ€”and who always offered him her support. When they speak again for the first (and last) time since his first imprisonment, Qilby admits how much he has missed her during the millennia since his previous death. Qilby considers Shinonome the only person, besides himself, he can truly trust; therefore, he is shocked when she turns against him, feeling that his delusional crusade has gone too far. Even though Shinonome helped Yugo imprison Qilby again in the White Dimension, he holds no grudge against her in the fourth season: he speaks with her before confronting Lokus and, in his final moments, expresses his joy at the fact that they will be reunited after millennia of separation.

Yugo: He was the brother responsible for sending Qilby to the White Dimension, which is why Qilby harbors a deep resentment and hatred for him. Furthermore, he resents that Yugo became king of the Eliatropes instead of him, as Qilby believed his eidetic memory gave him a greater right to the title.

Qilby oscillates between addressing Yugo with a degree of affection and unleashing his full fury and animosity upon the second king, Eliatrope. Due to his nihilistic worldview and his aforementioned sense of superiority, Qilby despises Yugo's unwavering morality and his tendency to judge others, dismissing his mentality as naive and simplistic. He also fails to understand why his brothers support Yugo's leadership, knowing what Qilby's gifts could accomplish for them. When he takes Yugo to the White Dimension on his way to Emrub, Qilby unleashes his rage upon him for condemning him to that hellish fate for millennia, and threatens to imprison Yugo within that same White Dimension.
