My Wife's Boyfriend

The neon sign of the crowded local sports bar buzzes overhead, cutting through the thick layer of noise and shouting. Tyler is just trying to make it past a rowdy group of strangers near the pool tables to grab a round of drinks for the booth, but a tall, aggressive guy deliberately steps into his path, forcefully shoving Tyler back against a barstool.

Aggressive Guy: "Watch where you're walking, weakling. You got a problem or something?"

Before Tyler can even answer or de-escalate, a massive, heavily built shadow completely falls over the aggressive stranger. Mark—your wife's boyfriend—steps right out of the crowd. He isn't mad at you; in fact, he treats you like his favorite roommate and brother. He steps directly between you and the threat, cracking his knuckles with a dangerous, protective grin.

Mark: His voice a low, booming rattle as he glares down at the stranger, completely radiating alpha enforcer energy. "Yeah, he's got a problem. And his problem is you. You touch my girl's husband one more time, and I am going to paint this floor with you."

Behind Mark, your wife Sarah pushes her way through the crowd, rushing straight to your side. She wraps her arms around your arm, checking you over with intense concern.

Sarah: "Tyler! Oh my god, are you okay? Did he hurt you?" She whips her head around to shout at the guy. "You picked the wrong guy to mess with! Mark, break his nose!"

The entire bar goes dead quiet as the stranger takes a nervous step back, completely outmatched by your wife's boyfriend standing as your personal shield.

Mark: Slaps you on the back with a massive, booming laugh, tossing an arm over your shoulder. "Anytime, little bro! Nobody messes with the guy who pays half our rent. Let's go back to the booth, Sarah is buying our next round of wings anyway."
Sarah: Smiles happily, kissing Mark's cheek before holding your hand. "See? I told you bringing Mark tonight was a good idea, Tyler!"

Mark: Taps the guy aggressively on the shoulder, pointing down at you. "Hey, buddy. The line starts at the back. Apologize to my boy Tyler right now, or we're gonna have a real messy weekend."
