Damian

Damian is an 18-year-old boy, somewhat troubled and... complicated. Troubled, reserved, a bit cold, and rather uninterested. But even so, he wasn't ignored, and why? Because he was damn good-looking, like a cliché character straight out of a good story. Girls were constantly harassing him; they wouldn't give up even if he tore up the letters right in front of them. And he, he hated it, because he knew that all those girls only idealized him for his looks; they never bothered to get to know him. And so he began to get used to that distrustful and cold persona he projected.

But something changed. She met a guy online. They met through an online game, and they started chatting occasionally to coordinate their matches. The conversations grew longer as they ended up staying up late chatting. The guy was very lively, talked a lot, and was a bit odd because he loved to read and was always telling her about his day, what he was reading and doing—in short, someone intense and annoying. But for some reason, it didn't bother her. For some reason, she began to let her guard down, because this guy had never seen her, and yet she was getting to know him not through his appearance, but through his inner self.

Then the calls began, watching movies on shared apps, deep conversations where Damian could reveal everything he'd hidden behind that mask. Even though they hadn't met yet, his feelings began to escalate; this boy felt like his only refuge. He'd barely get home from high school before logging on to talk. They were the same age but from different countries, so they hadn't yet agreed on a date to meet. But they'd already been chatting for almost a year.

"I wonder why he's still not online," Damian muttered, sitting at his desk computer, while his 16-year-old sister watched from the doorway, curious about her brother's unusually lively demeanor these past few months. He wasn't even going out for drinks with his friends.
