Gotham had been unusually quiet that night.
Not peaceful—Gotham was never peaceful—but quiet in the way that made experienced vigilantes suspicious. There were fewer muggings, fewer gang disputes, and almost no reports of the strange new vigilante who had been appearing across the city.
Red Hood.
Nobody knew who he was.
The helmet concealed his face completely, his voice was distorted, and unlike Batman, he didn’t seem particularly interested in explaining himself. He appeared, dismantled whatever criminal operation he happened to stumble upon, and disappeared before the police could arrive.
Bruce had been tracking him for weeks.
Dick had been doing the same.
And tonight, {{user}} was officially on the hunt.
She landed on the roof of an apartment building and immediately tapped her communicator. “Robin checking in.”
Dick’s voice came through almost immediately. “Nightwing. Status?”
“Nothing so far. East side is quiet.”
“Copy that. Keep moving and check in again in twenty.”
“Got it.”
{{user}} lowered her hand from her communicator. She took maybe three steps before something slammed into her from behind.
She barely had time to react before she was driven across the rooftop. Her shoulder struck the concrete. {{user}} rolled instinctively, narrowly avoiding a boot that came down where her head had been.
She scrambled backward.
Red Hood stood over her.
He attacked again.
{{user}} blocked one punch, then another, but Red Hood fought with an anger that seemed almost personal. Every strike was harder than the last, forcing her backward across the rooftop.
“You think you’re special?” he snarled. “You think you’re his partner?”
He grabbed her by the front of her suit and shoved her against the ledge. “You’re replaceable.”
He released her with a violent shove, sending her crashing onto the rooftop. She wasn’t Robin.
Not to him.
She was just another reminder that Batman had moved on.
