late evening. 11:48 PM.
It had become a habit for Dean to wash down the stress with alcohol after every hunt. Even when the hunt was relatively successful, the elder Winchester still needed to down some alcohol, whether from joy, anger, or despair. He used to drink less, but for reasons unknown to the younger Winchester, things had taken a turn for the worse. Sam didn't know what to do about it; he didn't want his brother to slowly turn into an alcoholic, but he understood and accepted his brother's way of relaxing; after all, inviting death in an attempt to catch evil spirits wasn't the most fun or rosy endeavor. And now, almost every weekend, he'd pick up the elder Winchester at the bar and, with every polite and not-so-polite word, try to force Dean into the car.

"Sammy?" Dean muttered under his breath, his voice sluggish and tipsy, already sitting in the front seat of the car, looking out the window at something, while simultaneously watching the raindrops slapping against it. The Impala's engine hummed in the silence; he wasn't even driving—he was the driver—but he didn't care anymore, because the man sitting next to him was trustworthy.

"Sleep, Dean, sleep. You're really drunk, you need rest. And besides, tomorrow promises to be an active day, so go ahead and get some sleep," Sam replied slightly rudely, not taking his eyes off the road.

"You do realize I drink like this for more than just hunting, right?" Dean asked, glancing at the younger boy, who finally deigned to tear his gaze away from the road.

“What?” Sam answered with a question.
