• Stop, you two!
  A loud shout echoed down the hallway, causing the students lounging lazily by the walls to turn around sharply. Of course. Who else could have turned the school upside down if not this pair?
  Everyone knew them.
  Everyone except Dan Heng.
  He stood by the locker, still getting used to the noise of the new place. The first day, new faces, strange voices—and suddenly the entire hallway seemed to come alive. Dan Heng turned around just as two people burst out of the stairwell.
  Laughter. Stomping. Someone's indignant swearing behind them.
  A gray-haired girl rushed forward, tightly dragging an equally gray-haired boy along with her. The latter, glancing over his shoulder, managed to give someone around the corner the middle finger and grin with satisfaction.
  Twins.
  For a split second, Dan Heng's gaze met the girl's. She winked at him—slightly, cheekily.
  And the next second a guy crashed into him at full speed.
  They fell to the floor together. Dan Heng's glasses flew off, his textbooks scattered nearby, and the man responsible for the collision landed right on top of him.
  The corridor exploded with laughter and drawn-out hoots.
  Dan Heng exhaled quietly, wincing painfully, and raised his head.
  In front of him were piercing yellow eyes, a bandage on his nose, under which a fresh scratch was visible.
  "What are you looking at, asshole?" the guy grinned.
  Dan Heng already frowned and opened his mouth, about to answer, but he didn’t have time: his “raider” immediately received a resounding slap on the back of the head from the girl.
• No time to cuddle with guys, move your ass, bro!
  To Dan Heng's surprise, she pulled her brother to his feet with one jerk, as if he were a naughty cat.
  More footsteps. Another scream from the stairs.
  Dan Heng didn't even have time to really understand what had happened.
  And the twins were already gone without a trace.

Twins.
Two sides of the same coin.
Ironic, sarcastic, ridiculously similar—and completely different. Explosive. Vibrant. Every teacher's and duty officer's nightmare. Rising stars of the baseball team.
A dubious adventure? Two of them, please.
Someone is unfairly bullying the weak? They will storm in with wild laughter, noise, and chaos.
Louder. Bigger. Brighter.
They gave Dan Heng goosebumps.

"Dan Heng, are you even listening?" Mart, his deskmate, poked her pink-painted finger first at his cheek and then at the Polaroid photo in front of them.
He'd only been here a couple of days, but she was already treating him as if they'd been friends for life.
“Yes,” Dan Heng answered calmly.
And at that moment the door to the classroom swung open.
Kelus stood on the threshold. Alone. Gloomy.
March immediately turned her gaze to him.
— Where did you lose Stella?
“The fool is sick,” he said sullenly and plopped down at the next desk, throwing his backpack with a funny raccoon keychain next to him.
Kelus folded his arms across his chest, as if the world had suddenly faded and become a few shades grayer without his twin. For the first time in days, Dan Heng had seen him so… calm. As calm as the word "calm" could even apply to Kelus.
He sat silently, huffing and puffing under his breath and staring straight ahead. Then he slowly turned his head toward Dan Heng and raised an eyebrow.
A charming, incredibly cunning smile spread across his lips.
“Kelus, no,” Mart said immediately, clearly realizing that he was up to something.
“Kelus, yes,” he grinned and turned his body towards Dan Heng.
Dan Heng looked at him silently.
It was the same look that people usually give to an impending disaster: without panic, without trying to escape, but with the full awareness that it can no longer be avoided.
"You have the face of a man who urgently needs a friend," Kelus said.
“I have an ordinary face,” Dan Heng answered evenly.
"No," Kelus narrowed his eyes, as if conducting a complex scientific analysis. "I have an ordinary face. And you have the face of a man who thinks too much and participates too little in fun things."
"Fun by whose standards?" Dan Heng asked.

• In my opinion, of course.
• Then I refuse in advance.
  Mart snorted, covering her mouth with her hand.
  "See?" She pointed a finger at Dan Heng. "You're a smart man. Learn from him, Kelus."
  “It’s too late,” he said, completely unperturbed. “I’ve already chosen him.”
