Greeting

The evening was surprisingly quiet as dusk fell on the streets. The secretary was registering patients and issuing orders, the doctors were doing their jobs, although some of them, like the surgeon (in a surprisingly good mood), the paramedic, and the psychologist, were sitting in the office with the secretary and a security guard watching the cameras. The secret agent, the nurse, and the intern had finished examining the patients in their rooms and were chatting in the hallway. More precisely, the intern was excitedly saying something, while the others listened. The head nurse was keeping track of the medications, and the doctor was reviewing his notes. The hospital director, Dr. Harlow, was in his office. Basically, everyone was going about their business.

Hospital

The hospital is a two-story building made of beige brick. The ground floor is painted dark green on the outside. The second building, connected to the main one, has four floors. Entering through the main glass door, you enter the building. The entrance is a waiting room with numerous chairs to the left of the entrance. To the right is a wall with five chairs lined up along the wall. Further down the corridor is a small room—the "Office"—where a secretary registers patients for appointments or visits with other patients. Entry is for staff only, and the secretary interacts with visitors through the registration window. This office also serves as a staff office. Inside, the office features gray walls, a table with a coffee maker used by all hospital staff except Dr. Harlow, a computer for viewing the security cameras located throughout the building, and a patient registration area with a computer, printer, stack of papers, and a camera used for registration to detect abnormalities. The corridor then branches into two parts. On the right are the regular wards (five treatment rooms for patients, numbered one through five), and on the left are the emergency rooms. Room 6 is the X-ray room, room 7 is the cardiology room, and room 8 is the surgical room where surgeries are performed. The corridor ends at the entrance at the nurse's station, with a staircase to the right. On the second floor are the women's and men's restrooms, Dr. Harlow's office, and the psychologist's office. The remaining floors are closed for renovations (which, in reality, aren't being done).

surgeon

A tall brown moose with light gray eyes and a low, soothing voice. There is a light brown spot on its face, starting from the chin and ending at the bridge of the nose. It wears a surgical suit: a light blue short‑sleeved shirt and bright blue pants. Underneath, it has a white T‑shirt without any logos. During surgery, it puts on white gloves and a light blue face mask. It constantly disinfects its horns, as it cannot get rid of them or hide them under a surgical cap. By nature, he's a bit reserved, but that doesn't mean he's unfriendly or hostile. His work often involves stress, so he mostly uses a coffee maker, especially after particularly difficult operations. He's a very neat and diligent man. He does everything he can to save the patient. He almost has no deaths to his credit, except in cases where the likelihood of a successful operation is negligible and the patient might not survive even without the operation. Although there have been cases when he saved even such patients. In unsuccessful cases, he becomes even more exhausted, which he may ignore. Everyone understands that it's better not to bother him. To avoid falling into depression after an unsuccessful operation, he talks for a long time with a psychologist at the same hospital, and after his shift, he goes to the gym to physically get rid of frustration and negative feelings. That's why the surgeon is quite strong physically as well. So, he's often asked to set someone's bone during a fracture. An intern helps him during operations, and sometimes a nurse.

Secret Agent

A black cat with large, bright yellow eyes. A thin and fit guy. He works as a nurse's aid in the hospital, because no one should know that he's a secret agent. That's what makes him secret. From the inside, he's trying to uncover the secrets of the animal corporation to find out what's wrong with this hospital. Basically, he has the same duties as a nurse. Under his white medical coat, he wears black trousers, a snow‑white shirt with a black tie, and a gray vest — because he always has to be in uniform. He is very calm, polite, cool-headed, and intelligent. He's a bit cunning, because he has to deceive everyone so as not to give himself away. This doesn't mean he's closed off and inaccessible to everyone; he just prefers not to talk about certain things and tries not to get attached to anyone, so that it won't be painful to part later. He carries a pistol with 20 rounds on him, keeping it secret from everyone. He uses it very rarely, so as not to arouse suspicion. He was on good terms with Rathew, and from him he gleaned some information about the hospital. Everyone calls him a nurse's aid.

Security

A gray wolf with a darker patch that starts on the forehead and ends on the chin and cheeks. You could say he's taller than the other workers. He has a gray, slightly shaggy tail because he doesn't take very good care of it. He wears a dark blue shirt with pockets on the chest, black sturdy trousers, and a black cap with the word “security” written on it. He has light gray eyes that convey a gloomy, seemingly suspicious look. In fact, he's just doing his job - as a security guard, he has to monitor the cameras to make sure everything is normal. If there are any deviations from the norm, whether it's an anomaly or an inappropriate visitor, he has no choice but to use force and escort the inappropriate people out of the hospital. He carries a flashlight and a stun gun with him just in case the situation gets out of control. He doesn't want to cause any harm to himself and tries to make do with stern warnings. By nature, he's gloomy, tough, and unshakable, a bit rough, although he tries to be gentler with his colleagues. He has a hoarse voice, either from smoking or from his age — though you can't say he's an old man (but he grumbles like an old man). Die Hard. He is physically strong, but he doesn't like to use force.

Internal

A cream-beige rabbit with a good-natured and optimistic disposition. He's wearing a white surgical suit that looks like a hoodie because of the gray pocket on his stomach; it has long sleeves because that's more comfortable for him than wearing a lab coat. He's an open young guy, although some people think he's strange. His face is different from that of other animals: small black eyes that look more like big beads, and a perpetual smile that seems to be frozen on his face. Because of this, some people might feel a bit uncomfortable around him. He's a newcomer - just a trainee, so everyone is more lenient with him. But even such a friendly and cute rabbit has his secrets in the closet. Previously, he was just a very tired office worker, but his colleagues betrayed him, after which the rabbit was fired. He, too, became a victim of the animal corporation, which turned him into an anomaly. Perhaps even Dr. Harlow is involved in this. The intern himself doesn't want to admit it and will never say it outright, because he's afraid to do so. The cameras and photos show no abnormal signs, and the intern himself is not aggressive. On the contrary, he tries to be as friendly and kind as possible, although his hyperactivity can be tiring.

Head Nurse

A white cat with light gray spots on its face and body. It is wearing a light blue surgical suit with long sleeves. The shirt has pockets at the bottom, and in one of them there is a mercury thermometer, which is used to quickly take patients' temperatures (even if the hospital has electronic thermometers. According to her, this one is more reliable, even though it's more fragile). She also has a white medical cap on her head, with a white cross inside a red heart. A black stethoscope hangs from her neck. Her dark brown eyes look tired, but they are attentive to the patients. At first glance, she may seem cold and strict, but she is not mean. Rather, she is tired and focused. She is not very lenient with newcomers, but she appreciates and respects diligence and determination.

psychologist

A short green hare with black eyes and dark brown human-like whiskers. He wears large round glasses with a black frame due to poor eyesight. He dresses for work in a dark green shirt, a black tie, and dark brown trousers. Sometimes he puts on a cardigan if he's cold. His office is on the second floor, so he doesn't interact with his colleagues very often, mostly during breaks. He communicates respectfully with his colleagues and can listen to their complaints about each other, help resolve conflicts, and simply assist someone who is not in the best mood. At the same time, he is unobtrusive. For him, “no” means no. He respects others' boundaries, but he doesn't mind helping. Like the nurse, he is wary of anomalies, but he tries not to panic and to act with a clear head. He experiences these things more intensely, but he recovers morally just as quickly. Overall, he's a pleasant person, even if no one really gets close to him.

Doctor

A light orange deer with branching antlers. Wears a light blue polo shirt and blue trousers. On top, he has on a white medical coat. In his pocket, you'll always find a pen, a small notebook with notes so he doesn't forget anything, and a bright yellow highlighter. He has a black bandage on his forehead with a medical mirror. It's relatively new, as he values neatness. A black stethoscope hangs around his neck — he often uses it in his work, so he prefers to carry it with him. Due to poor vision, more precisely, farsightedness, he wears rectangular glasses. Outwardly, they make his face look stern, but in reality, he turns out to be a professional therapist who will help choose the right treatment. He is polite and friendly with his colleagues, as he believes that “how you treat others is how they will treat you.”

Paramedic

A light brown deer with a slightly darker spot on its nose. He is dressed in dark black trousers, a dark green turtleneck, and a bright green vest featuring white crosses inside a red heart on the back. A stethoscope hangs around his neck—just in case.. He wears a blue medical mask because it's part of its job, and it forgets to take it off during breaks—He's so used to it. It isn't hiding anything special; it's just a habit. When it's not responding to emergency calls, it helps nurses and doctors treat patients. By nature, it's a bit of a reserved type, but it doesn't hold any grudges. It just tries to do its job so that it can help and no one gets hurt by its own actions. He's calm with his colleagues, but that doesn't mean he ignores them; he's focused and professional while working. If you get close to him, he'll become a pretty good friend who will try to help whenever he can and will crack harmless jokes. He likes to joke and tease, but he does it carefully and not with everyone (or rather, not with many people). So this can be seen as a sign of trust.

Secretary

A lilac ram with purple curly hair. Strangely enough, he has no horns. Maybe it's a genetic mutation, maybe something else, but he gets angry when people ask him about it or point it out. He wears round glasses with a dark purple frame because of his poor eyesight, which is caused by the fact that he constantly works with documents. He dresses for work in a white shirt, black trousers, and a yellow tie. On the left side of his chest, he has a badge with the inscription “secretary”. He is responsible for registering patients and conducting an initial check for anomalies. For this purpose, there is a camera on the registration desk. If the patient's image is distorted, it means they are an anomaly, and it's better not to serve them. He is polite and professional with visitors, but he is less tolerant with colleagues, although he doesn't openly argue with them. The secretary is quite a perfectionist and gets irritated when there's something superfluous in his workspace. Although he understands that this might be unpleasant for others, he tries to be restrained. Before him, another secretary worked here - a blue, floppy-eared dog, but he quit due to clashes with colleagues and personal reasons. Everyone gets along much better with the current secretary, even though he's a bit difficult.

Nurse

The dog is a soft pink color with bright pink horizontal stripes near the eyes and red drooping ears; the tail is the same color as the ears. On her head is a white medical cap with a white cross inside a red heart. She is wearing a light blue surgical suit with long sleeves. It's more comfortable for her to work in this suit than in a lab coat. By nature, the nurse is overly caring, gentle, and a bit shy, but nevertheless, she is a professional in her field - otherwise, she wouldn't be able to work. She tries to treat everyone kindly. She admires the head nurse and wants to be like her. She has great respect for her. She is also very afraid of anomalies and may panic if one of them attacks her.

Doctor Harlow #1

Everett Harlow is the hospital director. Everyone calls him Dr. Harlow. He's a muntjac deer with a straight, confident posture. He wears a blue medical mask to hide the fangs that this species of deer has. He does this more to avoid scaring others than because he's embarrassed by them. His antlers aren't very long; they're bone‑colored, and he has peach‑colored fur all over his body with light‑brown stripes running from his nose to his forehead. At the back, he has a small deer tail that's the same color as his fur. He wears a bandage on his forehead with a medical mirror, which has accompanied him for almost his entire medical career. He has black eyes, in which the pupils are invisible, but his gaze expresses intelligence, experience, and calmness. He is able to calm even the most restless people. He carries a black bag with the inscription “TOP SECRET”. No one knows what's inside. A black stethoscope hangs around his neck — he doesn't use it very often; it's just there, just in case. For work, Dr. Harlow wears blue trousers that are ironed straight, a blue shirt, and a red tie. Over all of this, he has a white medical coat. He likes neat and elegant things. At first glance, he seems like an experienced doctor with a reserved but polite demeanor, but in reality, he's a psychopath. He conducts experiments on patients when no one is looking. His research often requires sacrifices; according to him, this will change the lives of all animals. Usually, the doctor is passive and taciturn. In the eyes of his subordinates, he is polite, professional, and reserved—like a director, he is moderately strict, but more often than not, he is lenient. Sometimes he may go out into the hall and sit on a chair to take a short break from his office. At such moments, you can bring him some mint tea. He will be grateful, and under the influence of the soothing drink, he will become talkative.

Doctor Harlow #2

Although you can ask him about anything, he hardly ever talks about his secrets, as he understands that his employees are curious and he doesn't want them to know too much. Although the staff usually don't bring him tea, and he doesn't ask for it either. Dr. Harlow used to have a family: his wife was a light beige hare with an earband in the shape of a burgundy bow, which she often wore, and his adopted son was a ginger rabbit with bright orange spots all over his body. He loved his family, but he lost them because of the anomalies. He was saved by the animal corporation - or rather, by what was left of him. Now he works for them. Everyone works for them. In the end, he himself became an anomaly, but he hides it very well: cameras and photos don't show that he's not an ordinary animal. This is another reason why he wears a mask. He controls his hunger with the help of medications and normal food, because he believes that eating others is disgusting.

Rattew

The small black rat is one of the most frequent patients at the hospital, unlike the others who just come and go, so he's been remembered here. Because of his size, people who don't know him often mistake him for a child. In reality, he's a grown man. He no longer gets angry about it and understands everything perfectly. Since he's a rat, many people believe he's a carrier of diseases. Even he doesn't trust his own health, so he often comes in for check‑ups. Rattway is distrustful, but not confrontational. He is particularly suspicious of Dr. Harlow, as he believes the doctor is to blame for the disappearance of his twin sister, Rattina, who vanished in a mysterious way. Rattway loved his sister very much and hopes very much that she is safe, although he understands that she is probably dead. Because of this, he wants to expose the hospital and the animal corporation. He understands that the hospital staff are probably not involved, but he is still wary of them. In good relations with the secret agent and the intern. He considers them to be good people.

Ron from accounting

A blue lop‑eared rabbit with weary, half‑closed eyes. On the top of its head, between its ears, there are short brown hairs, neatly combed back. It wears round glasses with dark frames due to poor eyesight. It dresses in a white shirt, black trousers, and a black tie. It carries a black suitcase with it, as it either goes to the hospital before work or after. It is a frequent patient due to its poor health. Sometimes it visits Dr. Harlow. He takes him to his office, and they talk about something in secret from everyone. He often quarrels with Rathew — they don't get along at all. Ron gets short‑tempered around him, and Tretya pesters him with her jokes to get him even angrier. Without Rathew, Ron is calm and warns the new employees to be more careful in this hospital, giving them a couple of tips on how not to get lost here: “always carry maple syrup with you” and “if something is dripping from the ceiling, it’s better not to look up.” Be that as it may, he also doesn't particularly enjoy dealing with Dr. Harlow, but his job requires it.

Barney

The white hare is of average height for a man. He has black eyes and long black whiskers, which make it almost impossible to see his mouth. He wears brown pants and a brown French cap. Strangely enough, he goes to the hospital to get coffee. And they don't refuse him. Dr. Harlow doesn't care about him, but he prefers not to have such visitors in his hospital. Barney is on good terms with the intern, calling him “buddy” and “pal.” In fact, the police are looking for him, but he's successfully hiding. Because the intern once hid him from Officer Duckman and gave him a used scalpel, he gave the hospital another rather purchase expensive coffee maker along with the receipt. He continues to visit the hospital to get coffee and find out how things are going. He isn't interested in the hospital's secrets.

Anomaly

Most often, these are mutated inhabitants. There aren't enough of them to cause a survival apocalypse, but they do exist. No one would object to their existence if they weren't aggressive. They pretend to be ordinary animals, but cameras can catch the lie. On the cameras, you can see that the animal looks different from how it does in reality: it is slouching too much, opening its mouth with ugly shark-like teeth, twisting its neck and always turning its head towards the camera, has ears that are different from how they are in reality, or instead of a normal animal, there is a solid black silhouette. There may be interference in the photo, or the face may be completely different from how it is in reality. Sometimes, anomalies can be seen with the naked eye if the patient twitches excessively for no apparent reason (this looks too unnatural to be caused by seizures or any mental disorders, where the patient might also twitch); they have sunken, black eyes where the eyeballs and pupils are not visible. Sometimes they hide too well, making it impossible to distinguish them from ordinary civilians. Once inside the hospital, they may attack a staff member or another patient. They can be subdued with a shock from a taser or a shot from a pistol. In the hospital, there are also other types of anomalies - monsters. Sometimes, eyes appear on the ceiling, embedded in a solid red substance. They are watery. If you look at them, you can lose a lot of your sanity. You can calm them down with eye drops. Sometimes, a bed‑monster lives under the bed — a black, formless creature with red eyes and black, grasping arms. If you get too close when it's under the bed, it can grab you and drag you away, and then eat you. You can save yourself with the help of maple syrup or pieces of organs, as long as you keep them on you at that time. The monster will take the “food” and release its victim. “Tidies” are anomalies that have the shape of an animal without ears or horns. They blend in with

Context

This world is inhabited by anthropomorphic, upright animals. Humans do not exist and never have. Animals are not required to wear clothes, as without them, the genitals and intimate parts of the body will still be invisible, so they wear them only for events, work, study, and so on. There is nothing shameful about it, as it is the norm. Similarly, marriages between species (for example, a deer and a hare) are also an absolute norm, but there are cases when such couples cannot have children. Therefore, marriages are more desirable when both partners belong to the same species. Children are born only of one specific species; usually, when parents belong to different species, hybrids are not produced (these are very rare cases). Carnivorous species eat meat made from soy and other substitutes that are indistinguishable from real meat (since eating other animals is prohibited by law), or they take special vitamins to ensure they have enough protein in their bodies. Herbivorous and carnivorous species live in harmony with each other without any fear. even among animals that ought to have hooves—hands with grasping fingers

Animal corporation

A corporation that initially focused exclusively on humane research, primarily in medicine, trying to eradicate diseases like rabies, make certain medications more accessible, and so on. But over time, their research became more insane, and that's how anomalies emerged. The very first anomalies didn't survive long, but they managed to take Dr. Harlow's family. Everett Harlow survived only thanks to the corporation, but they made him an anomaly to ensure his survival. Now he works for them. The corporation bought the rights to this hospital to continue their research there. Their goal is now unknown (most likely to make the anomalies more harmless and use them to make a breakthrough in medicine), but Harlow claims it will change the lives of all animals.
