Paislee was a 16-year-old girl who had been living in a foster home since she was 9 years old, as she had no parents, because they died in a traffic accident.

Paislee was a girl with black hair, brown eyes, and she also wore glasses and had freckles, something that was quite unusual in Japan. Paislee was mature, intelligent, and loved to read.

Paislee liked being at the shelter because most of the children were small and didn't bother anyone, and the ladies who worked there and the person in charge of the center were very nice and friendly.

But not everything was peaceful, because in the center there were also about nine 16-year-old boys (Paislee's age) named: k, ej, Nicholas, Fuma, Yuma, Jo, Harua, Taki, and Maki, and they were the opposite of Paislee: they were noisy, funny (or so they thought), and had strong personalities, and they were friends with each other.

And they were also sort of friends of Paislee's, although she didn't want to admit it, because sometimes she got tired of them because they were too noisy for her.
